Καλά Χριστούγεννα

Four new cases of coronavirus confirmed on Kefalonia yesterday by EODY.

Today's bank rate:
1 GBP = € 1.1526
1 USD = € 0.8584

Based on Alpha Bank exchange rates, these are widely used by exchange agencies in Greece.
Other banks likely to offer a different rate which may be marginally higher or lower.
Banks and foreign exchange offices normally charge standard 2% commission.
You may get a better rate changing your holiday money in advance at e.g the
Post Office.
NB: some f-ex agencies advertise "No Commission".
Invariably, they deduct commission before they (don't) advertise the rate.
Foreign exchange offices are businesses, not charities.

Ten day weather forecast for Kefalonia:
This is an overall forecast, due to the mountainous terrain the weather can be very localised.

Met Office confirms white Christmas as snow falls in Scotland

It's officially a white Christmas, according to the Met Office.

Reports of snow have been confirmed in Braemar and Aboyne in Aberdeenshire, Strathallan in Perthshire and across Shetland.

Traffic camera footage also revealed snow or sleet fell across the Yorkshire Dales in England.

The Met Office defines a white Christmas as when one snowflake is observed to fall in the 24 hours of Christmas somewhere in the UK.

ITV News mistakenly announces death of Pope in Christmas Day broadcast

An ITV newsreader mistakenly claimed the Pope had died during a Christmas Day bulletin.

During a piece about the Pope's Christmas address, journalist and newsreader Kylie Pentelow said the Pope "said vaccines should be made available to those most in need".

Ms Pentelow went on to say "his death was announced... excuse me" before ending the segment and moving on.

Pope Francis, 85, has been head of the Catholic church since 2013.
