Forty two new cases of coronavirus confirmed on Kefalonia yesterday by EODY, two  on Ithaka.

Today's bank rate:
1 GBP = € 1.1621
1 USD = € 0.847

Based on Alpha Bank exchange rates, these are widely used by exchange agencies in Greece.
Other banks likely to offer a different rate which may be marginally higher or lower.
Banks and foreign exchange offices normally charge standard 2% commission.
You may get a better rate changing your holiday money in advance at e.g the
Post Office.
NB: some f-ex agencies advertise "No Commission".
Invariably, they deduct commission before they (don't) advertise the rate.
Foreign exchange offices are businesses, not charities.

Ten day weather forecast for Kefalonia:
This is an overall forecast, due to the mountainous terrain the weather can be very localised.

The observatory on Ainos was burgled during Friday night, telescopes and associated equipment not harmed but other items stolen.

Do what we say, not what we do:

Carrie Johnson pictured breaking Covid rules hugging friend at West End club
Prime Minister’s wife ‘regrets the momentary lapse in judgment' after breaching social distancing guidelines

Carrie Johnson, the Prime Minister's wife, was photographed breaking Covid-19 social distancing rules days after the public was warned that it was "critical" to follow the guidance, The Telegraph can disclose.

Despite Boris Johnson's warning that "you should keep your distance from anyone you don't live with", Mrs Johnson, 33, was pictured embracing a close friend while the pair celebrated the friend's engagement at a private members' club in London's West End.

It has also been claimed that Mrs Johnson, who is head of communications at a wildlife charity, hosted a party in the flat above No 11 Downing Street that she shared with the Prime Minister and their two young children. That allegation has been described by Mr Johnson's spokesman as "total nonsense".

Boris Johnson prepares mass clearout to save own skin
PM’s fury at Downing Street staff as he launches string of ‘red meat’ policies

Boris Johnson is planning a mass clearout of No 10 and a series of populist announcements to save his tottering premiership.

Despite issuing a humiliating apology to MPs over the Downing Street parties on Wednesday, the prime minister is refusing to take responsibility for the crisis and in meetings last week questioned why his team had not protected him.

He complained to aides: “How has all this been allowed to happen? How has it come to this? How haven’t you sorted this out?”

A senior government source said: "He made it clear he thought they had let him down. Boris's view is that he is not to blame. That everyone else is to blame."

Oh dear, wonder if he'll be throwing Carrie under the Downing Street bus, along with his staff?

The Times article is behind a paywall but apparently a further plot named Operation Red Meat could see a “booze ban” in No 10, a military response to Channel crossings, the BBC licence fee frozen, and intensified efforts to clear the operations backlog in the NHS.

BBC licence fee to be abolished in 2027 and funding frozen
Government announcement will force broadcaster to close services and make further redundancies

The culture secretary, Nadine Dorries, is expected to confirm that the cost of an annual licence, required to watch live television and access iPlayer services, will remain at £159 until 2024 before rising slightly for the following three years.

She said this would be the end of the current licence fee funding model for the BBC, raising doubts about the long-term financial future and editorial independence of the public service broadcaster under a Conservative government.

Seriously, this is the big news of recent times and you might notice that quite a number of my posts come from the Daily Telegraph - hardly part of any socialist plot to bounce Boris out.

I'm  a great fan of Boris. He's managed to do something very rare: unite the country.

Against him.
