Sixty six new cases of coronavirus confirmed on Kefalonia yesterday by EODY, two on Ithaka.

Today's bank rate:
1 GBP = € 1.1674
1 USD = € 0.8558

Based on Alpha Bank exchange rates, these are widely used by exchange agencies in Greece.
Other banks likely to offer a different rate which may be marginally higher or lower.
Banks and foreign exchange offices normally charge standard 2% commission.
You may get a better rate changing your holiday money in advance at e.g the
Post Office.
NB: some f-ex agencies advertise "No Commission".
Invariably, they deduct commission before they (don't) advertise the rate.
Foreign exchange offices are businesses, not charities.

Ten day weather forecast for Kefalonia:
This is an overall forecast, due to the mountainous terrain the weather can be very localised.

Kefir the Maine Coon kitten is so massive people think he’s a dog

At less than two years old, he’s already surpassed the average adult weight for his breed (6.8kg to 11.3kg), and will continue to get bigger until he’s roughly three or four.

Satellite images show 4,000km-long Saharan dust cloud across Atlantic Ocean
Forecasters say storm could stretch as far as Iceland

Images from space have captured the massive scale of a Saharan dust storm billowing out over the Atlantic Ocean.

The dust plume extends 4,000km (2,500 miles) from the coast of Mauritiania in Western Africa up to Ireland.

Pictures of the storm have been captured by Copernicus, the European Union's earth observation satellite.

The Copernicus Atmosphere Monitoring Service (Cams) forecast that the dust would recirculate towards northwest Europe and the North Sea in the coming days.

Tory MP Will Wragg accuses No10 of 'blackmailing' MPs over opposition to Boris Johnson

A senior Conservative MP has accused Number 10 of "blackmail", saying staff had threatened him and other colleagues over their opposition to Boris Johnson.

William Wragg urged MPs to contact the Metropolitan Police if they had been threatened or intimidated.

The chair of the Public Administration and Constitutional Affairs Committee said Number 10 staff, special advisers and government ministers had said there would be embarrassing stories released to the press if MPs did not support the prime minister.

He also said Number 10 had threatened to withdraw funding to his and other backbenchers' constituencies if they did not withdraw their opposition to Mr Johnson.

He said "the intimidation of a member of parliament is a serious matter", adding: "The reports of which I'm aware would seem to constitute blackmail."

"As such it would be my general advice to colleagues to report these matters to the Speaker of the House of Commons and the Commissioner of Metropolitan Police."

Boris Johnson spent nearly £1 million looking at whether bridge to Northern Ireland was feasible

The government spend nearly £1 million assessing whether Boris Johnson's idea of a bridge or tunnel across the Irish Sea was viable, it has emerged.

The Department for Transport confirmed on Thursday that the feasibility study for the "fixed link" cost a total of £896,608.67.

It also spent a further £1.1 million on its concurrent "union connectivity review", which reported in November.

The feasibility study found that the benefits of a bridge between Northern Ireland and Scotland was not worth the £335 billion price tax, or £209 billion for a tunnel.

Before he became prime minister Mr Johnson was criticised for overseeing the spending of £43 million on a proposed “garden bridge” over the river Thames in London, which was also never built.
