Thirty three new coronavirus cases confirmed on Kefalonia yesterday by EODY, none on Ithaka

Today’s bank rates:
1 €UR = £ 0.8544 GBP
1 €UR = $ 1.1227 USD
£1 GBP = 1.1704 €UR
$1 USD = 0.8907 €UR

Based on Alpha Bank exchange rates, these are widely used by exchange agencies in Greece.
Other banks likely to offer a different rate which may be marginally higher or lower.
Banks and foreign exchange offices normally charge standard 2% commission.
You may get a better rate changing your holiday money in advance at e.g the
Post Office.
NB: some f-ex agencies advertise "No Commission".
Invariably, they deduct commission before they (don't) advertise the rate.
Foreign exchange offices are businesses, not charities.

Ten day weather forecast for Kefalonia:
This is an overall forecast, due to the mountainous terrain the weather can be very localised.

Fake reviews to be illegal under new rules

People are set to be better protected from fake reviews and "subscription traps" under plans to tackle rip-offs.

Proposals include making it "clearly illegal" to pay someone to write or host fake reviews.

A competition watchdog will get new powers to fine firms up to 10% of their global turnover for bad business practices.

Motorists in self-driving cars can watch TV and films behind wheel in Highway Code change
There are currently no vehicles approved for self-driving on roads in the UK, but the first could be given the green light this year

Users of self-driving cars will be able to watch TV and films behind the wheel under proposed updates to the Highway Code.

It will still be illegal to use a mobile phone behind the wheel, but drivers will be allowed to watch TV and films on built-in screens.

COVID-themed candles on sale in Greece for Orthodox Easter

Inside Greece’s Orthodox churches, candles are a symbol of faith and simplicity, slender and traditionally made of beeswax, and placed in large candleholders filled with sand.

Outside, buyers are looking for a wow-factor to go with Easter gifts: They are sold with dolls, watches and karaoke microphones, or fashioned using dyes and molds in eye-catching designs that include beer bottles, smartphones and action heroes.

High-selling designs this Easter include pandemic-themed candles that resemble COVID-19 test kits, vaccination syringes and even red-colored representations of the ball-and-spike shaped virus itself.

Happy anniversary, Argostoli: on 20 April, 1757, the capital of Kef moved from Kastro (Castle of Agios Yeorgios) to it's current location on the bay/Koutavos lagoon.
