Ten new coronavirus cases confirmed on Kefalonia yesterday by EODY, none on Ithaka

Today’s bank rates:
1 €UR = £ 0.8742 GBP
1 €UR = $ 1.1044 USD
£1 GBP = 1.1439 €UR
$1 USD = 0.9055 €UR

Based on Alpha Bank exchange rates, these are widely used by exchange agencies in Greece.
Other banks likely to offer a different rate which may be marginally higher or lower.
Banks and foreign exchange offices normally charge standard 2% commission.
You may get a better rate changing your holiday money in advance at e.g the
Post Office.
NB: some f-ex agencies advertise "No Commission".
Invariably, they deduct commission before they (don't) advertise the rate.
Foreign exchange offices are businesses, not charities.

Ten day weather forecast for Kefalonia:
This is an overall forecast, due to the mountainous terrain the weather can be very localised.

Carrie Johnson faces grilling by MPs on ‘secret’ Boris birthday bash left out of Sue Gray report
Mrs Johnson is alleged to have sent texts to an aide which indicate she hosted a gathering in Downing Street with friends during lockdown

Mrs Johnson, 34, is alleged to have sent texts to a Number 10 aide which indicate she hosted a gathering in their Downing Street flat with male friends during lockdown. The Gray inquiry was made aware of the existence of the text messages in January but the event was not investigated.

The gathering on June 19 2020 on Mr Johnson’s 56th birthday was attended by at least two friends of his wife, it has been claimed. Covid rules at the time banned indoor gatherings of two or more people except for work purposes.

‘I’m with the gays’: How new revelations of Carrie Johnson gathering on Boris’ birthday may derail his premiership

Boris Johnson, only two months out of intensive care, must have felt properly cared for when Carrie Symonds, his then fiancee and now his third wife, surprised him with drinks to celebrate his 56th birthday.

The party, planned without her soon-to-be husband’s knowledge, has already caused quite a stir. Mr Johnson received a fixed penalty notice for his attendance - making history as the first serving prime minister to receive a fixed penalty notice and in the process threatening to bring his career to a shuddering halt.

But it has now emerged that a second event was hosted by Mrs Johnson later the same day, attended by at least two male friends at the couple’s flat at No 11 Downing Street.

This second gathering on Mr Johnson’s birthday was flagged up to investigators working with Sue Gray, as well as to the Metropolitan Police. Its existence has only now been made public.

The Gray inquiry may have decided not to investigate - the reasons are unclear - but the privileges committee, investigating the Prime Minister for misleading the House of Commons, may well decide to add the event to its to-do list.

The committee is likely also to take an interest in the so-called “Winner takes It All” Abba party that allegedly took place on November 13, five months after the June 19 birthday.

One person questioned by Ms Gray said: “I told both her and the Met Police that I heard Abba music coming from the No 11 flat on that night. At least three other people told her the same but, despite us offering this information, it was never followed up by anyone.”

'Hundreds' of TUI passengers told by TEXT their holiday is cancelled after 'eight-hour' Manchester Airport wait

'Hundreds' of TUI passengers have been left outraged after they received a text from the holiday giant that their trips were cancelled - after a nightmare eight-hour wait in Manchester Airport. Holidaymakers looking to get away for the May half-term say they had a gruelling four-hour wait to get through check-in and security, followed by a four-hour flight delay 'waiting for a pilot'.

The troubled flight to Kos, out of Terminal 2, was supposed to take off at 3.45pm, but angry ticketholders say they would have missed the flight - if it had been on time - due to queues 'out of the building' to check-in. After enduring a further four-hour delay, one family says they were informed by a text from TUI that their trip, including flights and an all-inclusive hotel, were cancelled.

Greece May Re-introduce Covid-19 Measures in the Fall

Although Greeks will no longer be required to wear face masks as of Wednesday, Health Minister Thanos Plevris reiterated that the decision was temporary and that come fall, Covid-19 measures may be re-introduced should the pandemic developments require.

In an interview to Greek media, Plevris also confirmed that a fourth shot of a Covid vaccine – a booster – would be required in September for the general population, not clarifying however whether it will be mandatory.
