Just spotted this but I've seen reports that Kefalonia is trying to get exemption for this year due to the recent storms.

Quote
Property owners will pay the same amount of Single Property Tax (ENFIA) in 2015 as they did last year after all.

However, it will be paid in five and not six monthly installments, as was the case in 2014, with the first due at the end of October.

The notices for the 6.1 million owners will be uploaded on the Internet in 10 days’ time.

Although the government had promised an adjustment of the extremely high property values used for tax purposes (the so-called ‘objective values’), as the Council of State had dictated, taxpayers will eventually pay exactly the same amount, to boost state coffers by 2.65 billion euros.

The final tranche is due by the end of February.

The Finance Ministry’s online tax portal (Taxisnet) has issued the first emergency property tax (ENFIA) pay notices for home owners, stating that the tax is payable in five installments, with the first due by October 30.

About six million pay notices will be posted on Taxisnet by late Wednesday, the ministry said.

Got an email from my accountant regarding this. Looks like it can be paid in five installments from October 2015 till February 2016 or a one-off payment. No exemption for this year then, or well.

Seems pretty straightforward: accountant prints off two sheets, take to PO/bank, pay money.

A bit short notice for us, got the email this afternoon, flying back to the UK tomorrow, so had to raid the cash point and get the dosh to the accountant, pdq. To her credit she paid the bill from her account and I handed over the cash, by the time I got back the payment receipts were in my in box.

We had two sheets printed, one for me one for Ivan as the house is in both our names, so we owe half each. Paid at the post office, no problem.

Each person who has a stake in the property will get a bill, in my case even though we had passed ownership on to our children (3 ) we both got a bill as well, because we retained the right to use the house. So we got 5 bills, but I was told the total would be the same no matter how many people were involved.

Depending on which bank you do your online banking with, it should come up with Bill payments and then Taxes and then it will show ENFIA.  You need the 30 digit payment code off the ENFIA statement and then just put in the payment you want to make.  Hope that makes sense.

Friday ends the deadline for payment of the first installment of ENFIA, and therefore banks expect increased traffic to their branches today and tomorrow.
The tax may be paid off by cash, card or charged to an account without having the ... passage from the counter.

Payment ways

Banks have the following alternative transaction provider networks, free of cost, in the case of payments to the State:

1) E- Banking

By debiting their deposit account or credit card, taxpayers can pay their tax through electronic banking services.

All you need is an internet connection and of course activated the service of e-banking.

Moreover, in most banks can use the credit card for payment in installments.

2) Phone Banking

But even those who do not have e-banking can not pay their taxes by phone and the telephone banking service (phone banking) which is available from all institutions.

By phone can give a payment order fee or a deposit account, paying only the data of the associated debit card or by debiting a credit card.

3) Portal payment

Currently there are three payment portal (National simplepay, Piraeus: easypay, Eurobank: livepay).

These customers of the three banks can pay their taxes with debit (direct or debit card) or credit card.

In public payments can only be used the bank issued cards that operate the portal.

4) Payment and ATMs

Banks are open payments of the main confirmed debt of the State and at ATMs.

In this context, rather than one to pay the ENFIA within the branch is able to use the same payment ATM.

The installments

In addition to using debit cards and direct debit bank account, those are limits available their credit card can use it for payment of ENFIA.

In addition to the single payment of each installment or all of the tax, there is also the possibility of interest-free installments.

In particular, the interest-free installment service provides two options:

1) To pay the total tax to 9 or 12 installments depending on the bank

2) To pay each of five monthly installments in 9 or 12 interest-free installments

The number of free installment is:

12 publications cardholders of Piraeus Bank and National Bank
9 for holders of cards issued by Alpha Bank and Eurobank

ENFIA: The new map for joint property tax values

Financial Minister Euclid Tsakalotos and Alt. Finance Minister Tryfonas Alexiadis are faced with making decisions on the new objective property values around the country. Sources state that the findings submitted forecast horizontal reductions from 10-20% for middle-class areas, and smaller reductions as well as increases in working class districts. Prime real estate in top notch areas such as Mykonos or upmarket Ekali remain the same.

It remains to be seen if the government will accept the committee’s proposals, at least for working class districts where increases to objective values were found.

Alternate Finance Minister Tryfon Alexiadis... admitted that the taxes on property imposed via the ENFIA tax were “disproportionate” and that the government considers an extension of taxes on property to those owned by Greek tax payers living abroad, in order to address the injustices in the system and make the tax fairer.

New property tax to replace ENFIA from this year

The Single Property Tax (ENFIA) has been abolished and is to be replaced by a new tax to be based on the sum of each owner’s properties and not the individual assets.

“This new tax, which we are currently working on, will deliver the same amount of revenues, but in a fairer and more democratic way,” Alternate Finance Minister Tryfon Alexiadis stated on Monday.

Taxation on plots of land to rise by 23-25 percent

Owners of land plots are among the property holders who will have to pay more tax for their assets this year, according to the new regulations concerning the Single Property Tax.

ENFIA, as the tax is known in Greece, will be amended by the bill that Parliament will vote on this Sunday.

No end to ENFIA tax before 2031 at the earliest

The new investment incentives bill submitted in Parliament on Friday contained the shocking presumption that the Single Property Tax (ENFIA) will remain until at least 2031.

Ruling party SYRIZA had promised to abolish ENFIA – originally an extraordinary levy – but after it was voted in it has passed laws that have made it permanent.
