Today’s bank rates:
1 €UR = £0.9067 GBP
1 €UR = $1.1099 USD
£1 GBP = 1.1029 €UR
$1 USD = 0.9010 €UR

Based on Alpha Bank exchange rates, these are widely used by exchange agencies in Greece.
Other banks likely to offer a different rate which may be marginally higher or lower.
Banks and foreign exchange offices normally charge standard 2% commission.
You may get a better rate changing your holiday money in advance at e.g the
Post Office.
NB: some f-ex agencies advertise "No Commission".
Invariably, they deduct commission before they (don't) advertise the rate.
Foreign exchange offices are businesses, not charities.

Greece to have elections in May, prime minister says

Greece will hold general elections in May, Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis said in a television interview on Tuesday.

The conservative government's four-year term expires in July, and Mitsotakis was widely expected to call an election in early April.

Opinion polls show his New Democracy party's lead over the leftist opposition Syriza party shrinking following Greece's worst rail disaster on Feb. 28.

Back in November, 2021, the Municipality of Argostoli agreed to improve the situation regarding strays by organising an adoption page on the web, supplying microchips for local volunteer vets to fit and working with Greek volunteer vets to neuter and vaccinate strays. Yesterday Alexandros Panteleios, leader of the Κεφαλονιά, νησί για όλους  (Kefalonia, an island for all) group questioned why there has been no progress in eighteen months.

Proposals to privatise water companies in Greece are being met with opposition. Currently they are not-for-profit organisations run in conjunction with local municipalities for the benefit of the community.

"Dogs and cats are welcome in this hotel. We never had a dog that smoked in bed and set fire to the blankets. We never had one that stole our towels and played the T.V. too loud or had a noisy fight with his travelling companion. We never had a dog that got drunk and broke up the furniture... So if your dog / cat can vouch for you, you are welcome too. The management."

Warning to cat owners after pets shaved in 'disturbing' spate of attacks across Kent

Cat owners across the South East are being warned to be vigilant after dozens of animals had their fur shaved in a series of disturbing assaults.

More than 50 incidents have been reported across Kent since Christmas with the upsetting act becoming almost a daily occurrence.

Charity Animals Lost and Found is so concerned it has set up a map of all the reported incidents, which appear to be spreading north towards Essex.

It's reported pets are being targeted as part of a cruel TikTok trend involving cats being 'marked for death'.

ITV Meridian contacted Kent Police, and in response a spokesperson said cat shaving is not an offence.

Summer holiday flights to jump in price, warns Michael O’Leary

The cost of summer flights will rise by up to 15pc this year, according to the boss of Europe’s biggest airline, putting more pressure on families struggling with sky-high inflation.

Ryanair chief executive Michael O’Leary said plane ticket prices will jump again this year because airlines have fewer seats on sale compared with pre-pandemic levels.

Mr O’Leary told the Telegraph: “Last year we saw average fares rise by 20pc. There's going to be a second year of low double digits price inflation, because there is no capacity.

Bit before my time  ;) but I think the 61/62 Capri was really a Consul and didn't much resemble the 70's Capri (IMO). According to The Sun, the electric Capri could be on sale next year. No reliable photos of it can I find, just some artist's interpretations (none of which would make me rush out and buy one, even if I had a spare £40,000 to hand).

Two dogs poisoned in Erissos area, both were in owners' yards, not strays roaming free. Vet saved one.
