Today’s bank rates:
1 €UR = £ 0.8819 GBP   £1 GBP = 1.1339 €UR
1 €UR = $ 1.1117 USD   $1 USD = 0.8995 €UR
1 €UR = $ 1.7140 AUD   $1 AUD = 0.5834 €UR

Based on Alpha Bank exchange rates, these are widely used by exchange agencies in Greece.
Other banks likely to offer a different rate which may be marginally higher or lower.
Banks and foreign exchange offices normally charge standard 2% commission.
You may get a better rate changing your holiday money in advance at e.g. the
Post Office.
NB: some f-ex agencies advertise "No Commission".
Invariably, they deduct commission before they (don't) advertise the rate.
Foreign exchange offices are businesses, not charities.

The Agricultural and Livestock Association of Kefalonia and Ithaca is calling for a tractor blockade of Argostoli around 12:00 midday on Monday. Forecast is for thunderstorms that day so may be a small turnout and few shoppers.

Fraport Greece have received permission to control wildlife that might endanger the operations of its airports. The wildlife is mainly various breeds of birds but also includes bats and, at Kavala and Samos airports, the common jackal. No specific problem at Kef airport.

Exotic ‘dinosaur-like’ turtle that can bite through bone found in Cumbria

A dangerous turtle capable of biting through bones has been found in a tarn in Cumbria.

An alligator snapping turtle, which is usually found in swamps and freshwater rivers in Florida, Texas and other southern parts of the United States, are known to have extremely powerful jaws.

The creature was spotted by Great Urswick residents in the tarn – which is a small lake – on the edge of the village.

Work-life balance key priority for Greek workers, survey finds

One in two Greeks say they would be willing to leave a job if it prevented them from enjoying their life, according to findings from Randstad’s annual Workmonitor survey which showed that financial rewards are no longer the sole focus for local workers.

According to the survey, financial gain is a top priority for 94% of respondents, but work-life balance is equally important for the same percentage.

Gov’t intends to introduce digital labor card to all sectors

The government intends to implement the digital labor card across all employment sectors, Minister of Labor and Insurance Domna Michailidou said on Friday.

Speaking at an event with business and industry leaders, Michailidou said that “the digital labor work card shields workers from undeclared work and employers from unfair competition, marking the entry of the labor market into the digital age.”

Michailidou further stated that the digital labor card would be implemented in a methodical and targeted manner, taking into account all the intricacies of each business sector, while at the same time helping them become more competitive.

Employees can use the digital labor card to clock in and out of work, guaranteeing proper keeping of work hours.

It was first introduced in May 2022 for banks and supermarkets that employ more than 250 people.
