Today’s bank rates:
1 €UR = $ 0.8856 GBP   £1 GBP = 1.1291 €UR
1 €UR = $ 1.1216 USD   £1 USD = 0.8915 €UR
1 €UR = $ 1.7077 AUD   $1 AUD = 0.5855 €UR

Based on National Bank of Greece exchange rates.
Other banks likely to offer rates which may be marginally higher or lower.
Banks and foreign exchange offices normally charge standard 2% commission.
You may get a better rate changing your holiday money in advance at e.g. the
Post Office.
NB: some f-ex agencies advertise "No Commission".
Invariably, they deduct commission before they (don't) advertise the rate.
Foreign exchange offices are businesses, not charities.

Eat beans and live longer: One reason why many Ikarians live to be 100

As one of the world's five designated "Blue Zones", Ikaria, a small Greek island in the eastern Aegean, has lower rates of chronic disease than most other places, and its more than 8,000 full-time residents have some of the longest life expectancies in the world. In fact, one-third of Ikarians live past 90 years of age, and factors such as strong social and family ties, exercise that is integrated into daily life and frequent napping are thought to be why these island inhabitants often live to be centenarians.

Another important contributing factor is what they eat.

Well I have the napping part mastered  :nai:
Also guessing that the beans are aiding and adding impetus to any walking exercise

'Most unwanted' dog finds new home in Keighley after four-year wait

A dog once dubbed "Britain's most unwanted" has finally found a home, a charity has confirmed.

Jake, a lurcher, first arrived at Dogs Trust Leeds aged one in 2015. He was found a home, but returned in 2019 as the owner's circumstances had changed.

After spending more than four years at the centre, he has now been taken in by a couple from Keighley.

Charity steps in to rehome 300 cats from ‘overwhelmed’ man in Canada

An animal welfare charity in western Canada is scrambling to secure the resources needed to care for about 300 cats – all of them seemingly in good condition – after a call came in from a man who described himself as being “overwhelmed” by the sheer number of cats and kittens in his home.

Bruce Robinson told the British Columbia SPCA that he had taken in cats that had been abandoned during the Covid-19 pandemic but that the cost of caring for them had become a herculean task after he lost his job.

The charity had sent staff to his home in the small town of Houston to assess the situation, said Eileen Drever of the BC SPCA. “When asked how many cats he had, I think he said it was like counting bubbles in boiling water.”

The cats were sociable and seemed to be in good condition.

Labour and Conservatives both refuse to commit to compensating Waspi women

Neither the Conservatives nor Labour would commit to compensating Waspi women on Sunday morning – despite the publication of a damning report that called on the government to pay billions to those who were not told about the state pension rise.
