Tragedy for a family in Divarata (between Ag. Efimia and Assos) today, 16 year old son passed away in Rio hospital, Patras, after being struck a few days ago by a mulberry tree he was felling.

Heard that earlier in the week a Sami drug addict commit suicide while in police custody. Not sure how accurate that one is, not much news forthcoming from the police.

The Center for Disease Control and Prevention(KEELPNO) called on Friday for members of high-risk groups, such as the elderly or people with chronic diseases, to get flu jabs as the number of Greeks who have died from flu this winter rose to 53, with another 57 being looked after in intensive-care units.

KEELPNO also advised anyone developing flu symptoms to take medication, adding that the strain of the H1N1 virus afflicting people in Greece could even be a threat to young people and those who are otherwise healthy.
