Today’s bank rates:
1 €UR = £0.9197 GBP
1 €UR = $1.1318 USD
£1 GBP = 1.0873 €UR
$1 USD = 0.8835 €UR

Based on Alpha Bank exchange rates, these are widely used by exchange agencies in Greece.
Other banks likely to offer a different rate which may be marginally higher or lower.
Banks and foreign exchange offices normally charge standard 2% commission.
You may get a better rate changing your holiday money in advance at e.g the
Post Office.
NB: some f-ex agencies advertise "No Commission".
Invariably, they deduct commission before they (don't) advertise the rate.
Foreign exchange offices are businesses, not charities.

Tax inspectors shut down gas station that operated illegally for 12 years

Tax inspectors have shut down an illegal gas station in Western Attica that sold €18 million worth of fuel since opening in 2010.

An inspection revealed that the filling station did not have an operating license, lacked an input-output monitoring system and issued receipts from a cash register that did not transmit data to the Independent Public Revenue Authority.

The inspectors also found an illegal fuel tank on the premises as well as a tanker vehicle that had been illegally converted from a truck.

The owner was arrested and faces an administrative fine of more than €150,000.

Father accused of raping 4-year-old child

A 40-year-old man in northern Greece is accused of repeatedly raping his 4-year-old son and filming the acts with the help of the boy’s grandmother in a new case of sexual assault against a minor.

The suspect is also facing charges of sexual acts with a minor under the age of 12, sexual acts between relatives and pornography. It was not clear which of these charges have also been brought against the child’s grandmother.

McVities to cut number of biscuits in packs in latest round of 'shrinkflation'

In the latest bout of ‘shrinkflation’ – a term for the reduction in quantity or size while prices remain the same – there are set to be three fewer Digestive biscuits in each pack.

Penguin bars and Club biscuits, which are both often sold in packs of eight, are now expected to come in seven.

Five Thousand Year Old Ancient Taverna Discovered In Iraq

A 5,000-year-old taverna has been found in Iraq – complete with an oven, a refrigerator, and dishes on the tables filled with food.

We may often think that the lifestyle of Western civilisation has evolved over time, but a recent archaeological discovery in Iraq shows that people used to eat alfresco in taverns 5,000 years ago.

The taverna discovered by archaeologists in the ancient city of Lagash, dates back to 2,700 BC containing evidence of Sumerian culture. The Sumerians were an ancient people who appeared in the Mesopotamia region between 6000 and 4000 BC, a populace who were at their peak between about 3000 and 1500 BC.

A menu has also been found there - "roast lamp", "little nonsenses" and "atomic pizza"...  And not a receipt in sight.  ;)

Wonder if the sign outside said, "We speak English good".

And don't forget the local wine: passed by the management.

Allegedly 1,124,506 passengers arrived on Kef by boat in 2022 compared to 1,400,240 in 2019, a drop of around 20%. Poros port handled a tad over 40% of sea traffic (around 449,800 passengers) followed by Lixouri, Sami, Fiskardo and Pessada.

I suspect those figures are for ferry passengers as up to 368,860 passengers arrived on cruise ships docking in Argostoli.

Edit: typo
