Kef fire risk 27/05/23: Low

Today’s bank rates:
1 €UR = £0.8940 GBP
1 €UR = $1.1057 USD
£1 GBP = 1.1186 €UR
$1 USD = 0.9044 €UR

Based on Alpha Bank exchange rates, these are widely used by exchange agencies in Greece.
Other banks likely to offer a different rate which may be marginally higher or lower.
Banks and foreign exchange offices normally charge standard 2% commission.
You may get a better rate changing your holiday money in advance at e.g the Post Office.
NB: some f-ex agencies advertise "No Commission".
Invariably, they deduct commission before they (don't) advertise the rate.
Foreign exchange offices are businesses, not charities.

Maik:
Unconfirmed: A suggested solution to the Ainos ponies 'problem' - and it is only a suggestion - has been proposed locally: Municipality of Argostoli take responsibility and contain the herd on the Dimitrakis Millas’ bequest land behind Agia Varvara beach, Katelios. Claimed merits are: safety and security for ponies, people and property; utilisation of land that could otherwise be developed; the ponies become another visitor attraction; job creation. Also proposed that the ponies be put up for 'adoption' by schools and tourists.

May be some merit to the idea but I'm not sure there's enough grazing on that area of land. Additionally, the idea may not be popular as the majority of locals are described as elderly and senile. And... there's the cost to be considered - back in 1989 the land was valued at 1,000,000€.

--- Quote ---Passport e-gates at UK airports not working

Passengers flying into the UK have shared their frustration over delays at passport controls as e-gates across the country are not working.

The issue at airports, including Heathrow, Manchester and Gatwick, began on Friday night.

The Home Office said it was working with airlines and port operators to minimise disruption from the "nationwide border system issue".

All airports across the country using the gates are affected, meaning people flying in are having to get their passports checked manually.

--- Quote ---Crocodile farmer torn to pieces by 40 of his own reptiles

The president of the local crocodile association was trying to move one animal out of its cage when it grabbed the stick he was using as a goad with its jaws and pulled him in.

Luan Nam, 72, was set upon by the crocodiles in Siem Reap, Cambodia, where the reptiles are farmed for their eggs, skin and meat.

Nam’s body was recovered from the cage, where the crocodile had laid eggs, but his arm was torn off and eaten by animals.
