Boris Johnson Seems Lost In North East England While On The Campaign TrailThe prime minister left his partygate woes in London on May Day bank holiday Monday as he was pictured on his official Twitter feed with an ice-cream and surrounded by young people taking photos. An accompanying tweet read: “It was a fantastic day to be out campaigning in Teesside, where we’re delivering a massive programme of investment as part of our plan to level up the whole of the UK.”The trouble is, as plenty were keen to point out, he wasn’t in Teesside... the PM was in Whitley Bay, the seaside town on Tyneside.
‘Who’s Lorraine?’: Boris Johnson branded ‘out of touch’ after question about ITV star Mr Johnson was interrupted by Ms Reid as he reeled off statistics about the Conservatives’ record on crime since taking office towards the end of the allocated interview slot.“Lorraine is waiting to take on all the issues that you have brought up in this interview,” Ms Reid said, to which he responded: “Who’s Lorraine?”Ms Reid seemed incredulous that Mr Johnson had not heard of Ms Kelly - who hosts an eponymous morning chat show on ITV - and replied: “‘Who’s Lorraine?’ Lorraine’s a legend.”As the programme cut away from 10 Downing Street, the PM seemed to be heard saying on a studio microphone: “Oh, fantastic. Well, I didn’t want to talk to Lorraine.”
