Today’s bank rates:
1 €UR = £0.9058 GBP
1 €UR = $1.1222 USD
£1 GBP = 1.1040 €UR
$1 USD = 0.8911 €UR

Based on Alpha Bank exchange rates, these are widely used by exchange agencies in Greece.
Other banks likely to offer a different rate which may be marginally higher or lower.
Banks and foreign exchange offices normally charge standard 2% commission.
You may get a better rate changing your holiday money in advance at e.g the
Post Office.
NB: some f-ex agencies advertise "No Commission".
Invariably, they deduct commission before they (don't) advertise the rate.
Foreign exchange offices are businesses, not charities.

Flybe: Regional carrier ceases trading and cancels all flights

Airline Flybe has cancelled all flights to and from the UK after going into administration.

A statement on the airline's website said it had "ceased trading" and told any passengers expecting to travel with it not to go to the airport.

About 2,500 passengers were due to fly with Flybe on Saturday, with about 75,000 passengers in total having flights cancelled.

Flybe said it would not be able to help passengers arrange alternative flights.

More bee-killing poisons? Why?

For the third year in a row, the UK Government has approved the use of the banned neonicotinoid by English farmers on sugar beet crops.

For the third year in a row, this decision goes against the advice of two of the Governments own expert groups; the Expert Committee on Pesticides and the Health and Safety Executive. Both have consistently advised that the emergency use of this pesticide should not be allowed.

Evidence shows that a single teaspoon of neonicotinoid is enough to deliver a lethal dose to 1.25 billion bees.

All roads lead to... Argostoli? Reminds me of when, many years back, we came to an unsignposted Y junction in the road outside a village out in the sticks of Corfu. As we sat there quickly consulting our basic map a guy came out of nowhere with a tray with a couple of small glasses of wine and a bottle of his homemade wine, which we were invited to sample. It was quite good and we accepted the offer to nip into his shop to buy a bottle. After which he asked where we were heading and revealed which road to take.

Five minutes drive along the road and it was apparent it wouldn't have mattered if we took the left fork or the right, they came out in the same place.

And when, back in the UK, we opened the bottle of homemade wine it was nowt like the samples he offered. Hey ho.

Yep, can be purchased at Lidl and left at Pollatos. Donations of money welcome, I'm sure, via PayPal or bank transfer: animalrescuekefalonia.com

At the risk of being totally controversial, it would be good to hear how much of it they purchased this week. :nein:

Controversy on GGi !?! OMG, never been known before!

"it would be good to hear how much of it they purchased this week" - might depend on how much money was donated?

Vandalism over the last night or so at the old spring / wash house at Platies. Parts were destroyed, some locals believe, in a search for rumoured long buried treasure in the area. The 'treasure' is a 150 year old structure.

North West Computer Museum aims to give new life to old consoles

From Pong and Pac-Man to Halo and Half-Life, a new computer museum is celebrating the rich history of gaming - and is ready to help fix people's broken consoles too.

The North West Computer Museum showcases video game classics from the 1970s to the present day.

It also has a myriad of machines, such as Acorn Electrons, Sinclair ZX80s, Xbox 360s and even a replica Apple-1.

He said as much as he wanted people to enjoy the exhibits, he also wanted anyone with an old or unwanted console to bring it in for a revamp.
