Android anti-virus products put to the test – which are the best at stopping new malicious apps?

Six of the 17 apps tested achieved a perfect real-time detection rate of 100% against the “totally new” malicious apps and the additional reference set.

What’s worrying about that is, in my experience, most Android users haven’t installed a security app onto their phone – perhaps assuming that it’s not necessary, or more trouble than it’s worth.

Anyone who still has Adobe Flash Player installed on their PC (and there's different versions for different browsers) should update to version 32.0.0.344, released yesterday.

Check which Flash version you have

Coronavirus: Trump suspends travel from Europe to US

US President Donald Trump has announced sweeping new travel restrictions on Europe in a bid to combat the spread of the coronavirus.

In a televised address on Wednesday, he said all travel from Europe would be suspended for the next 30 days.

But he said the "strong but necessary" restrictions would not apply to the UK, where 460 cases of the virus have now been confirmed.

Firefox 74 was released late Tuesday, most users will probably have the auto-update by now. More info available at bleepingcomputer.com.

Sanitizer Galore! Greece to turn bootleg booze into coronavirus antiseptic

ATHENS, March 12 (Reuters) - Greek authorities plan to turn tonnes of ethanol confiscated from bootleg booze-makers into sanitizer to combat the coronavirus epidemic.

Up to 155 tonnes of seized alcohol is languishing in customs warehouses across the country. Authorities say they are trying to find manufacturers willing to convert it into antiseptics.

Greek customs authorities confiscate thousands of bottles of counterfeit alcohol every year, known locally as 'bombes'.

Vats with misleading labels such as "sugar syrup" or "distilled water" pack a punch. Lab testing showed it had alcoholic volume between 93.5% and 96.5%.

"Fortunately they came at just the right time. Now there is a shortage of pure spirit on the market because of the general shortage in antiseptic gels," a customs agent told Reuters.

Coronavirus: People with fever or persistent cough told to self-isolate

Anyone with a "new, continuous" cough or high temperature is now advised to self-isolate for seven days, as the UK government moves to the "delay" phase of its plan to tackle coronavirus.

PM Boris Johnson said it was "the worst public health crisis for a generation" and warned many families they would "lose loved ones before their time".

He said it was important to get the timing right for stricter measures.

In total, 10 people have now died in the UK with the virus.
