Traveling to-and-from all Greek islands resumes on Monday

The reopening of traveling to and from all Greek islands is taking place on Monday, as citizens had so far only been able to travel to Crete, due to the coronavirus travel bans.

Ferries will operate at a 50 pct capacity, which becomes 55 pct in larger ships with cabins, while strict health safety protocols are in place for the protection of all passengers, including taking the body temperature prior to boarding and filling out of a special questionnaire by all passengers traveling for longer than 30 minutes.

Boarding will not be allowed to anyone who either displays Covid-19 symptoms or has been in contact with someone infected in the last 14 days - both as per the questionnaire.

A 1.5 meters distance must also be observed by all passengers in all areas and at any time.

Cafes, restaurants prepare to reopen for business on Monday after two-month hiatus

Greece's cafes and restaurants are preparing to reopen for business on Monday after a long hiatus, as they closed just over two months ago due to the coronavirus curfews, home quarantines and the strict preventive measures imposed by health authorities against the pandemic.

Might be interesting to see if all tavernas and hotels do open on Kef this season. High season approx. 66% of visitors are from the UK, low season that figure rises to near 75%. Without them...

J.K. Rowling Perfectly Shuts Down Tory MP's Defence Of Dominic Cummings In Just One Tweet

J.K. Rowling had the perfect response after a Tory MP attempted to defend Dominic Cummings’ coronavirus lockdown trip to see his parents 260 miles away in Durham.

The Harry Potter author replied with an absolute zinger after culture secretary Oliver Dowden got sassy in his support of his fellow minister.

Dowden tweeted: “Dom Cummings followed the guidelines and looked after his family. End of story.”

After picking up on the tweet, best-selling, award-winning writer J.K. simply replied: “I know ending stories and this ain’t it, chief.”

Flawless.

New Zealand leader continues TV interview during earthquake

New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern barely skipped a beat when an earthquake struck during a live television interview on Monday morning.

She interrupted Newshub host Ryan Bridge to tell him what was happening at the parliament complex in the capital, Wellington.

“We’re just having a bit of an earthquake here Ryan, quite a decent shake here,” she said, looking up and around the room.

Monday’s magnitude 5.6 quake struck in the ocean about 62 miles northeast of Wellington, according to the US Geological Survey.

The quake hit just before 8 am and was felt by thousands of New Zealanders who were getting ready to start their work weeks.

It was strong enough to rattle food from shelves and stop train services.

But there were no reports of major damage or injuries.

If you get to Greece this summer you may want to hire a car, there are now rules about the number of occupants:

Quote
Rules for car rental companies

• All vehicles must be thoroughly cleaned and disinfected following their use by different customers.

• A limit must be placed on the maximum number of passengers allowed in vehicles in accordance to current legislation which is revised in accordance with the epidemiological situation.

– Vehicles of up to seven seats are allowed to transport two passengers (and the driver),
– Vehicles of eight or nine seats are allowed to transport three passengers (and the driver),
– Passenger limit may be exceeded in the case of families with minors.

‘Boris Johnson said I could’: Woman stopped by police on Welsh beach claims she thought it was in England
'Tomorrow we going to an English beach. F*** you Wales you bunch of b*******,' woman says on social media post

In a video she posted on social media, the unnamed woman can be heard accusing officers of upsetting her child and asking: “You’re telling me it’s illegal to be at this beach when Boris Johnson said that you can?”

The officer replies: “We’re telling you it’s different in Wales than it is in England.”

“Right, so what beach can I go to then today?” she asks. She is then informed she cannot go to any beaches in Wales.

Later that day, the woman reportedly admitted on social media that she “didn’t realise Wales wasn’t in England”.

Greeks’ driving attitudes poor, but showing slight improvement

Nearly half of Greeks feel fine about driving when they’re tired and a quarter will get behind the wheel after consuming more than the permitted amount of alcohol, a recent Eurobarometer survey has found.

Cummings says he drove to Barnard Castle to test his eyesight

He said he decided to return to work on 12 April, 15 days after developing symptoms.

However, his eyesight had been affected by his illness and so he went for a short drive to see if he could drive safely – to the town, Barnard Castle.

So here we are: If you're not sure if your eyesight is safe for driving forget SpecSavers and jump in your motor for a jolly drive to Barnard Castle.

How fortunate that arrogant arsehole didn't kill some innocent pedestrians - though I'm sure they'd be deemed expendable.
