Today’s bank rates:
1 €UR = £ 0.8885 GBP
1 €UR = $ 1.0835 USD
£1 GBP = 1.1255 €UR
$1 USD = 0.9229 €UR

Based on Alpha Bank exchange rates, these are widely used by exchange agencies in Greece.
Other banks likely to offer a different rate which may be marginally higher or lower.
Banks and foreign exchange offices normally charge standard 2% commission.
You may get a better rate changing your holiday money in advance at e.g the
Post Office.
NB: some f-ex agencies advertise "No Commission".
Invariably, they deduct commission before they (don't) advertise the rate.
Foreign exchange offices are businesses, not charities.

Cash found in MEP Kaili’s Brussels home: reports

Police investigating the suspected bribery by Qatar at the European Parliament have found large amount of cash in the home of Greek MEP Eva Kaili, a Belgian business daily has reported.

“Bags of cash found at the home of the European Parliament vice-president,” the headline in L’Echo stated.

The publication said that Eva Kaili’s father was allegedly found “in possession of a suitcase full of cash and was on the move, having been alerted by his accomplices, as investigators believe.”

Kaili has been arrested along with four others in connection to the alleged corruption affair, the Wall Street Journal has reported.

Her partner has also been arrested.

Belgium’s federal prosecutor’s office said Friday that investigators suspect a Gulf state of attempting to influence decisions by paying money or offering gifts to people connected with the European Parliament.

Piglets at RSPCA-backed farms ‘kicked, thrown and electrocuted’
Exclusive: Animal-welfare charity suspends members of its Assured scheme after secret footage reveals cruelty

Piglets were given electric shocks, hit, kicked and thrown as they were loaded onto lorries at RSPCA “higher welfare” farms, activists say.

Footage suggested workers subjected pigs and piglets to violence witnessed by colleagues at sites previously endorsed by the charity for having better standards than most.

The RSPCA immediately suspended several farms and a haulier when The Independent showed it the video clips.

The findings were sent to trading standards and the government’s Animal and Plant Health Agency.

Alice Brough, a specialist pig vet, said the footage showed use of electric goads was repeated and gratuitous.

“To see piglets of only four weeks of age kicked, hit and thrown with such force is deeply concerning,” she said.

Bad weather caused the cancellation of the Argostoli Christmas tree illuminations switch-on scheduled for this evening. No news whether it'll be re-scheduled.

Ms Fulani revealed that Lady Susan Hussey had asked her 'what part of Africa' she was from at a Buckingham Palace reception

Brazil press officer sparks outrage by manhandling cat that made surprise appearance at World Cup briefing

A cat caused quite a stir at a press conference ahead of Brazil’s World Cup meeting with Croatia.

As Real Madrid star Vinicius Jr sat down to chat with journalists, a cat wandered onto his table and perched itself for a prime view of the quarter-final briefing.

However, a press officer from the Brazilian national team thought it best to remove the animal, placing a hand on its neck before lifting it up by its scruff and dropping it onto the floor below.

While the cat appeared comfortable landing from the short fall, opinion was divided over the manner of its removal.

Some journalists gasped as it was manhandled while a debate began online about the incident.
