Today's bank rate:
1 GBP = € 1.1436
1 USD = € 0.8392
Based on Alpha Bank exchange rates, these are widely used by exchange agencies in Greece.
Other banks likely to offer a different rate which may be marginally higher or lower.
Banks and foreign exchange offices normally charge standard 2% commission.
You may get a better rate changing your holiday money in advance at e.g the Post Office (https://www.postoffice.co.uk/travel-money).
NB: some f-ex agencies advertise "No Commission".
Invariably, they deduct commission before they (don't) advertise the rate.
Foreign exchange offices are businesses, not charities.

Fire-ravaged Greek island of Evia hit by floods, mudslides
The island of Evia, Greece’s second-largest, has been hit by floods months after devastating forest fires last summer destroyed about a third of its forest cover
The island of Evia, Greece’s second-largest, has been hit by floods months after devastating forest fires last summer destroyed about a third of its forest cover.
There were no casualties from the heavy rains that hit the northern part of the island, but dozens of residents had to be evacuated from flooded homes, roads became impassable and beaches were filled with mud sliding down from nearby mountains that were now devoid of vegetation.

Huge solar storm hitting Earth today could cause mass disruption for power grids and satellites, agency warns
The geomagnetic storm will arrive at midday, and continue until tomorrow
An enormous solar flare is expected to hit Earth today, potentially affecting power grids and generating an aurora in northern latitudes.
The coronal mass ejection originates from the Sun, which is caused by a huge burst of electrically conducting plasma.
An alert published by the US National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) informed that we should expect “weak power grid fluctuations” and satellite “orientation irregularities” which could increase drag on craft in low Earth orbit.
The agency rates the storm as G2, which means it is moderately strong. It is expected to arrive around midday and will continue until 12 October.
