Road safety: UK set to adopt vehicle speed limiters

Speed limiting technology looks set to become mandatory for all vehicles sold in Europe from 2022, after new rules were provisionally agreed by the EU.

The Department for Transport said the system would also apply in the UK, despite Brexit.

Campaigners welcomed the move, saying it would save thousands of lives.

Road safety charity Brake called it a "landmark day", but the AA said "a little speed" helped with overtaking or joining motorways.

Apparently the regulator can be overridden by giving the accelerator some welly. And I suspect 2021 might see a boom in new car sales... that tails away in 2022.

Think my Hubbie had better get one he got two tickets last year for speeding!About 5MPH over the speed limit .He was so mad after 60years of unblemished driving. Some places in North Notts and North Yorks have some crazy places to have speed traps and anyone noticed the number of places that go from 50MPH down to 30MPH without a 40MPH.Seems the norm now.
