Fourteen new cases of coronavirus confirmed on Kefalonia yesterday by EODY.

Today's bank rate:
1 GBP = € 1.1569
1 USD = € 0.8609

Based on Alpha Bank exchange rates, these are widely used by exchange agencies in Greece.
Other banks likely to offer a different rate which may be marginally higher or lower.
Banks and foreign exchange offices normally charge standard 2% commission.
You may get a better rate changing your holiday money in advance at e.g the Post Office (https://www.postoffice.co.uk/travel-money).
NB: some f-ex agencies advertise "No Commission".
Invariably, they deduct commission before they (don't) advertise the rate.
Foreign exchange offices are businesses, not charities.

Ten day weather forecast for Kefalonia:
This is an overall forecast, due to the mountainous terrain the weather can be very localised.

A Brief History of Wine in Greece

Greece has over 200 indigenous grape varieties, including Xinomavro, Assyrtiko, Agiorgitiko, and Savatino. In this special issue, we will be looking specifically at pure Assyrtiko, Malagouzia, and Moschofilero (white wines) as well as Agiorgitiko and Xinomavro (red wines).

A very brief history, I didn't know Greece has two hundred indigenous grape varieties. I've got a few still to try

European firefighters to be repositioned in Greece in pilot project this summer
Firefighting resources from Greece’s European peers are set to be repositioned in the country ahead of the wildfire season next year under the umbrella of the European Union’s Civil Protection Mechanism (RescEU), Kathimerini understands.

The plan also foresees that Greek emergency crews will be repositioned to northern European countries during winter to provide assistance in dealing with severe rainstorms, floods and other natural disasters.

No more details are currently available.

Boris Johnson wrote that Parthenon sculptures should ‘never have been removed’
Letter sent to provincial Greek official in 2012 emerges in which Johnson confessed that in an ideal world, the sculptures would have stayed in Athens

As prime minister, however, the Tory’s stance has hardened noticeably.
