Coast Guard yesterday tried to reach the stray yacht near Katelios but winds and tide prevented the rescue boat from reaching it, although they were able to establish that there was no sign of anyone on board. Assumption is the yacht broke free from its moorings in one of Kef's ports but no news yet as to which one.

My expectation would be that given the wind direction, the yacht had drifted from Zakynthos, or even the mainland further south.

Cat microchipping to be made mandatory
Government to introduce compulsory cat microchipping to help reunite lost and stray pets
Under the new plans, all keepers must ensure their pet is microchipped before they reach the age of 20 weeks and their contact details stored and kept up to date in a pet microchipping database. Owners found not to have microchipped their cat will have 21 days to have one implanted, or may face a fine of up to £500.

London cat-lover's 'best Christmas present' as he is reunited with missing pet after five years
A Londoner whose cat went missing five years ago has told of his delight at being reunited with his pet, thanks to microchip technology.
David Blane, from north London, had lost all hope of seeing his cat Zeke again, and was "in a total state of shock" to hear he had been handed in as a stray 30 miles away in Stevenage, Hertfordshire.

Bomb squad called to A&E after man arrives with WW2 artillery shell up his bum
THE bomb squad was called to Gloucestershire Royal Hospital after a patient arrived with an artillery shell stuck up his bottom.
The patient, whose identity has not been revealed, said to the medical team at Gloucestershire Royal's A&E department that he “slipped and fell” on the 17cm by 6cm armour-piercing projectile, which was part of his collection of military items.

Couple of locals arrested on Kef yesterday, in separate incidents. One was found to have a small quantity of cocaine and raw cannabis in his shop, the other had a small amount of raw cannabis, an unknown chemical in powder form, a precision scale, and an old rifle in a storage area.
