Based on forecast from
weather.com

Today's bank rate:
1 GBP = €   1.1399
1 USD = €   0.8368

Based on Alpha Bank exchange rates, which are widely used by exchange agencies in Greece.
Other banks likely to offer a different rate which may be marginally higher or lower.
Banks and foreign exchange offices normally charge standard 2% commission.
You may get a better rate changing your holiday money in advance at e.g the
Post Office.
NB: some f-ex agencies advertise "No Commission".
Invariably, they deduct commission before they (don't) advertise the rate.
Foreign exchange offices are businesses, not charities.

Greece: Electricity Price Up 189% in 12 Months

Average electricity price in the Energy Exchange rose to 134.73 euros/MWh in September, from 121.72 euros/MWh in August and 46.6 euros/MWh in September 2020, the Energy Exchange said in a report. This increase represents a 189 pct jump in 12 months, a fact attributed mainly to a jump in natural gas prices and CO2 emission rights.

Greece’s fire-ravaged island now racing to build flood defenses

In a scorched landscape on the Greek island of Evia, crews of workers chop burnt pine trees, all that’s left from devastating summer wildfires, to set up wooden flood barriers.

Walking on a thick carpet of ash and with the smell of smoke still lingering, they are racing against time to bolster defenses before the autumn rains which threaten to flood coastal villages.

The vegetation which would normally absorb the rainfall and reduce runoff has been burnt and the soil might not be able to stop rain water from reaching seaside settlements.
