Eighteen new cases of coronavirus on Kefalonia announced yesterday by EODY.

Today's bank rate:
1 GBP = € 1.1371
1 USD = € 0.8386

Based on Alpha Bank exchange rates, these are widely used by exchange agencies in Greece.
Other banks likely to offer a different rate which may be marginally higher or lower.
Banks and foreign exchange offices normally charge standard 2% commission.
You may get a better rate changing your holiday money in advance at e.g the
Post Office.
NB: some f-ex agencies advertise "No Commission".
Invariably, they deduct commission before they (don't) advertise the rate.
Foreign exchange offices are businesses, not charities.

Ten day weather forecast for Kefalonia:
This is an overall forecast, due to the mountainous terrain the weather can be very localised.

Seahorses and sharks living in River Thames, analysis shows

Species living in the Thames include seahorses and even sharks, including tope, starry smooth-hound and spurdog.

The most recent count revealed there were about 900 harbour seals and 3,200 grey seals. Since the surveys began in 2003, there has been a clear and steady increase in both seal populations in the Thames estuary.

Fish numbers have declined since the 1990s, though, with conservation scientists saying further research is needed to determine the cause.

The tidal Thames supports more than 115 species of fish, 92 species of bird and has almost 600 hectares of saltmarsh, which is a crucial habitat for a range of wildlife.

Allegedly almost a mishap between a car and Ainos ponies in Valeriano. Nearer home, I had a near miss with a deer last week.

A woman murdered every month: is this Greece’s moment of reckoning on femicide?
Data shows consistently low rates of prosecutions and convictions for domestic violence, even as reported instances grow.

Lax punishments, police inaction and inadequate laws serve to embolden abusers, say campaigners – and stark figures bear them out

Large bush fire in the Nyfi area of Thinia. Tricky terrain, especially in the dark, fire fanned by winds.
