Today's bank rate:
1 GBP = € 1.1621
1 USD = € 0.8470

Based on Alpha Bank exchange rates, these are widely used by exchange agencies in Greece.
Other banks likely to offer a different rate which may be marginally higher or lower.
Banks and foreign exchange offices normally charge standard 2% commission.
You may get a better rate changing your holiday money in advance at e.g the Post Office.
NB: some f-ex agencies advertise "No Commission".
Invariably, they deduct commission before they (don't) advertise the rate.
Foreign exchange offices are businesses, not charities.

Ministers have given the go-ahead for farmers to use a banned bee-harming pesticide in England for the second year running.

The government went against the advice of its own scientific advisers, who said they did not see the justification for applying the neonicotinoid to sugar beet this year.

A single teaspoon of thiamethoxam is toxic enough to kill 1.25 billion bees, according to biology professor and insect expert Dave Goulson, and wildlife chiefs warned the decision could devastate already-struggling bee populations.

£2.3bn lawsuit claims US tech giant made billions by only granting access to site in exchange for 'highly valuable' personal data

Most British Facebook users could receive a £50 payout if a landmark legal claim launched against the social network over 'unfair' terms and conditions is successful.

Competition law expert Dr Liza Lovdahl Gormsen has brought the class-action lawsuit against Facebook's parent firm Meta at the UK's Competition Appeal Tribunal.

The director of the Competition Law Forum has accused the technology giant of abusing its market dominance, and is seeking a minimum of £2.3billion in damages.

The action could see more than 44million people compensated over claims that Facebook used its dominant position to force them to agree to terms and conditions.

It is claimed this allowed the firm to generate billions in revenues from their data, while users received no monetary returns, which the claim labels an 'unfair deal'.

--- Quote ---Bring state pension in line with new inflation figures, ministers told
Campaigners urge No 10 to prevent cost of living crisis hitting elderly as April’s pension rise pegged to 3.1pc rate from last September

Pension increases in April should be linked to new inflation forecasts in a one-off effort to tackle the cost of living crisis, campaigners have said.

Campaigners and former pensions ministers called on the Government to step in urgently to protect elderly people, who are already facing a difficult winter of rising energy bills, after City economists revised up their inflation forecasts for this year.

They said that the annual state pension, which will increase by just 3.1 per cent in April, was based on out-of-date figures and should be revised to account for the fact that inflation is likely to peak at more than double that.
