Warm week ahead

Heatwave with high temperatures up to 35C expected next week

The arrival of warm air masses from Africa is expected to send temperatures soaring in Greece and southern Europe from the start of next week, pushing the mercury to very high levels for the time of year.

At the same time, cold air masses will send temperatures plunging in the northern part of the continent, creating yet another North-South divide but this time on the weather front.

According to forecasts from the National Observatory of Athens (NOA) weather service meteo.gr on Sunday, temperatures could reach or even exceed an unseasonal 35C in central and southern parts of Greece next week.

Exactly the reason this time of the year would usually see me there, rather than here!

Likely to be a comfortable 28c in Kefalonia.

Aye, GGi forecast (here) has the temp building up to 31C on Saturday, then decreasing to 22C as next weekend approaches. Usual caution applies: may or may not reach 31C depending whereabouts on Kef you are. Probably still warm enough for TonyD.

It's going to be so nice that Ryanair are going to fly here next week. Just a few seats left...if you are kind enough to book now they can use your money to refund others........

Ryanair are flying to Kef next week? Or Athens? Has anyone told Ryanair?

Need to book your visit to the plane's loo in advance, too?

That was a humour attempt as they're taking bookings for not that many weeks ahead...as are others...they need the cashflow...to refund others...they still reckon they're flying before the UK lockdown fully ends....

Wasn't sure if you were kidding - wouldn't have surprised me if Ryanair were planning to fly to Greece next week
