Greece to Officially Open Tourist Season on March 1
Starting from next month, Greece will officially open its doors to international tourists, as the Minister of Tourism, Vassilis Kikilias, has said that the Hellenic Republic’s tourist season will start on March 1.

Patra carnival street parade canceled due to Covid-19
The port city of Patra in the Peloponnese has canceled its carnival street parade due to coronavirus restrictions.
While some carnival events will still go ahead, the organized street party, one of the city’s annual highlights, will be canceled for the third year in a row, Mayor Kostas Peletidis told a press conference Friday.
Carnival season kicks off next week.

George Panayi: Met Police sergeant who kissed officer’s cheek avoids dismissal
Sergeant George Panayi, 48, part of the East Area Command Unit, was accused of kissing and pinching the cheek of the female officer – without her consent – while on duty.
He was also accused of opening the door to a lavatory knowing the female officer was inside.
Sgt Panayi told the hearing this week that it was not uncommon for him to kiss colleagues on the cheek when congratulating them on a promotion, greeting them after a long absence or when having “a bit of fun” with them.
He said: “There’s a cultural side to it, me being from a Mediterranean Greek origin."
