Today’s bank rates:
1 €UR = £0.9032 GBP
1 €UR = $1.1268 USD
£1 GBP = 1.1072 €UR
$1 USD = 0.8875 €UR

Based on Alpha Bank exchange rates, these are widely used by exchange agencies in Greece.
Other banks likely to offer a different rate which may be marginally higher or lower.
Banks and foreign exchange offices normally charge standard 2% commission.
You may get a better rate changing your holiday money in advance at e.g the
Post Office.
NB: some f-ex agencies advertise "No Commission".
Invariably, they deduct commission before they (don't) advertise the rate.
Foreign exchange offices are businesses, not charities.

'Alcoholic' Labrador treated for addiction at Devon rescue centre

A dog has been treated for alcohol addiction by animal rescue staff in Devon, in what they say is the first case of its kind that they've ever seen.

Coco, a two-year-old Labrador cross and another dog were brought to the Woodside Animal Welfare Trust in Plympton following the death of their owner.

Both dogs required emergency care soon after arriving at the centre because they were suffering from fits.

Despite care from the staff, Coco's friend sadly died. However, Coco began the long road to recovery when he was treated for alcohol withdrawal.

Mystery surrounds deaths of doctor and businessman on trip to Greece
The two divers died days apart

The heartbroken families of two men who died during a diving expedition fear they may never get the answers they need. Dr Vincent Hong, 53, and Timothy Saville, 61, both died within days of each other off the Greek island of Kea.

A criminal investigation is ongoing in Greece while an inquest was held regarding both their deaths on Thursday (April 6). But more than three years have passed since the pair passed away in September 2019, and their loved ones are still searching for closure.

Coronation coach has electric windows and air con

The King and Queen Consort will travel to the coronation at Westminster Abbey in a more comfortable, relatively modern, horse-drawn carriage.

They will ride in the Diamond Jubilee State Coach, first used in 2014, before returning in the Gold State Coach used in every coronation since the 1830s.

Konstantine Hatzidakis, assistant ref at the Liverpool v Arsenal match, could be in for a bit of bother after allegedly elbowing Liverpool player Andy Robertson in the face. Here's Roy Keane's opinion:

Father of woman killed by husband in Greece to look after granddaughter ‘far away’

Almost two years after the 19-year-old British student, Caroline Crouch, was murdered by her husband as she lay asleep in the couple’s Athens maisonette, her father says he will concentrate on raising his granddaughter, “who is now without” either parent.

Speaking publicly for what he said would be the last time, David Crouch, 79, told the Guardian he would leave Greece to look after Caroline’s daughter, Lydia, who is almost three, in the Philippines, “far away” from her mother’s self-confessed killer.

“My only duty now is to look after her daughter, Lydia, who is now without both a mother and a father, and ensure that she is brought up as her mother would have brought her up,” the retired oil and gas executive said.

“I can only do this in the Philippines, far away from the malignant presence of her father and her paternal grandparents.”

The relocation comes weeks after the Crouch family won exclusive custody of the little girl, defeating a court challenge brought by the parents of the imprisoned Greek helicopter pilot, Babis Anagnostopoulos, who admitted suffocating his wife in May 2021.
