Ye gods! Another yacht fire, this one moored on the quayside in Argostoli and quickly extinguished yesterday evening by the local fire service. No injuries to occupants, no major damage and no damage to neighbouring craft.

A bush fire is raging across Petani, winds have fanned the flames and the fire front is extensive. Homes and sheep pens under threat, evacuations likely. Fire likely to burn through the night, fire fighting planes expected at first light.
A bush fire near Spartia is burning away from habitation and towards the sea and is partially under control. A change in winds direction could alter things.

Minor drama off the south east coast of Ithaka yesterday when the British flagged yacht Paula Rosa had to be towed in to Vathy due to a mechanical failure. No injuries to occupants and no marine pollution observed, boat confirmed to port until re-certified as seaworthy.

Bush fire up near Zola, now under partial control. Still quite breezy out here.

Firefighters have been at full stretch tackling three separate fires pretty much simultaneously but all the three fires on Kef, Lixouri, Spartia and Zola, have been extinguished. Much burnt bush land but no serious injuries, harm to animals or damage to property recorded (as yet).
