Kef fire risk 08/05/23: Low

Today’s bank rates:
1 €UR = £0.9000 GBP
1 €UR = $1.1344 USD
£1 GBP = 1.1111 €UR
$1 USD = 0.8815 €UR

Based on Alpha Bank exchange rates, these are widely used by exchange agencies in Greece.
Other banks likely to offer a different rate which may be marginally higher or lower.
Banks and foreign exchange offices normally charge standard 2% commission.
You may get a better rate changing your holiday money in advance at e.g the
Post Office.
NB: some f-ex agencies advertise "No Commission".
Invariably, they deduct commission before they (don't) advertise the rate.
Foreign exchange offices are businesses, not charities.

Ten day weather forecast for Kefalonia:
This is an overall forecast, due to the mountainous terrain the weather can be very localised.

Greek man who murdered British wife appeals for shorter sentence

A helicopter pilot who murdered his British wife and tried to blame her death on burglars in a crime that outraged Greece has launched an appeal, saying he regretted it and it was committed in the heat of the moment.

Nearly two years to the day after the death of Caroline Crouch, her Greek husband’s attempt to reduce his 27-year life sentence started at an appeals court trial in Athens. Babis Anagnostopoulos, 35, told the tribunal on Monday that although the murder had filled him with shame, it had not been premeditated.

Taking the stand on Monday, the two duty officers first called to the scene in the early hours of 11 May 2021 recalled how they had come across a puppy’s remains hanging from a bannister.

Rishi Sunak to face no confidence vote in Commons

LibDems leader Ed Davey said he will table a confidence motion in the Government in a bid to trigger a General Election following the Conservatives’ humiliation in last week’s local elections in England.

It is unlikely to be successful as the Prime Minister commands a majority in the Commons.

We've had far worse.
