Female cave lion cub named Sparta in Russia’s Yakutia region may even have traces of mother’s milk in it
The female cub, named Sparta, was found at the Semyuelyakh River in Russia’s Yakutia region in 2018 and a second lion cub called Boris was found the year before, according to a study published in the Quaternary journal.
The cubs were found 15 metres apart but are not only from different litters but were also born thousands of years apart. Boris, a male cub, lived about 43,448 years ago, the study said.

Government cuts price of travel Covid tests by £20
The government has cut the price of NHS coronavirus tests for travel by £20 amid criticism of the costs being imposed on holidaymakers.
Travellers, including people who have been fully vaccinated, are having to shell out hundreds of pounds on PCR tests – a requirement that has been deterring people from going abroad.
Under the price cut, the cost of a travel test from NHS Test and Trace will be reduced from £88 to £68 for one test and from £170 to £136 for two.
People returning to the UK, even from countries on the green list, have to take a test before they depart for England and a test two days after they arrive.
The requirement means testing is often more expensive than flights, accommodation, or both combined – putting foreign holidays out of the reach of millions who would normally travel on a budget.

After Ag. Gerasimos day things start to quieten down a bit on Kef as the Athenians will start to return home. In a normal year, anyway. In true Greek fashion, the kantina / beach bar at Myrtos has just opened. Better late than never :)

Charles donates money to organisation helping Greeks affected by wildfires
A multi-national team of firefighters has helped halt the blazes in Greece that threatened homes and wildlife.
The Prince of Wales has made a donation to the Hellenic Red Cross (HRC) to support the organisation’s humanitarian response to wildfires in Greece
Charles’ undisclosed amount was welcomed by the HRC’s president, who said his organisation would “continue to work tirelessly for the people of Greece”.
