River cleanup crew finds human skeleton in barrel

A barrel containing a human skeleton was found on Tuesday on the bed of the Platanias River in the region of Rethymno on the island of Crete by crews cleaning the river.

The remains were transferred to the Forensic Medicine Service of Crete for further examination and possible clues into the time and cause of death, and the identity of the deceased.
