Allegedly the Prime Minister of Greece, Kyriakos Mitsotakis, will visit Kefalonia in the near future and announce major plans for the Argostoli-Poros road.

Hmmmm.

Murder of young mother in front of child shocks Greece

Three thieves strangled a young mother in front of her 11-month-old child on Tuesday after breaking into her home in an Athens suburb and tying up her husband, police said.

The thieves made off with money and jewellery after killing the 20-year-old woman, who was born in Greece but had a British passport, the police said. Her husband, a 33-year-old pilot, survived.

The thieves also killed the family's dog and left it hanging on the fence of the house in the suburb of Glyka Nera, the police added.

Animal welfare bill debate continues despite objections

The number of stray dogs cannot be accurately calculated, however, animal welfare organizations estimate there are more than 1 million on Greece’s streets, while the number of stray cats has also increased significantly.

Probably worth reading the whole article on ekathimerini.

The bridge at Heimoniko (aka the Winter Bridge), brought down by the Ianos medicane, should be replaced sometime during February, according to Army engineering specialists who are responsible for the work.

Well, that never happened. Not that many expected it would, I suspect. However, a contract has now been signed with the Army to erect a temporary (ahem) Bailey bridge (similar to the narrow bridge by Odysseus Palace in Poros) at Heimonikos to replace the bridge built in 1969 and destroyed in the Ianos medicane. Total project cost: 52,287.96 €. A long term replacement will require very detailed planning and construction. No mention of when the 'temporary' bridge will be erected and usable.

Government seeking to vaccinate all islanders by end-June

As Greece prepares to welcome travelers from the European Union and other parts of the world on its safe list, the government is ramping up efforts to increase Covid vaccination coverage on the country’s islands, which receive the bulk of summer tourism.

A vaccination drive is already under way at dozens of islands with a population of below 10,000 residents; now the objective is to expand it to bigger islands, with a population above that number.
