Australian Instagram model, 20, who was working on a Mexican billionaire's luxury yacht died in a boating accident as her mother and sister were flying to join her in Greece

The mother and sister of an Australian Instagram model who died in Greece were flying to visit her when they were told the news of her death.

Sinead McNamara, 20, from Port Macquarie in northern New South Wales, had been working on a luxury yacht owned by a Mexican billionaire and was holidaying in Pylos.

Ms McNamara, who died on Thursday, was on holiday after spending four months working as a crew member on the Mayan Queen.

The luxury yacht is owned by Mexican billionaire businessman Alberto Bailleres, who chairs Mexico's second largest mining company and is worth $9.6billion.

Laboratory test results on body of 20 year old expected

The results from a laboratory examination of the body of a 20-year-old Australian woman found dead on a luxury yacht in Kefalonia last week will determine the exact causes of death. The woman’s body was found hanging on the yacht belonging to a Mexican billionaire that had been moored at the port of Argostoli in Kefalonia.

Coroner Ilias Bogiokas, who conducted the autopsy of the woman's body, told the Athens Macedonian News Agency that the death came about from a hanging and that the body did not have any injuries. The results from the laboratory examination will be ready in about a month.

Failed relationship focus for police in Sinead McNamara death inquiry
THE final tragic moments of Aussie model Sinead McNamara’s life before she died aboard a luxury yacht have been revealed.

AUSTRALIAN model Sinead McNamara may have been upset about a relationship breakdown before her shock death, and spoke to crew members about her fragile state.

A law enforcement source — who was familiar with the inquiry into the 20-year-old Instagram star’s death but not authorised to speak about it — said members of the Mayan Queen IV’s crew told police she confided in them.

“She was upset and made comments about a relationship ending or some sort of trouble in her private life,” the source told news.com.au in Kefalonia.

It’s understood the last person she is known to have spoken to was a crew member, about 15 minutes before she was found on the deck.

The source could not confirm whether she was being comforted, as local media reports suggest, only that a conversation took place.

The $200 million superyacht, owned by billionaire Mexican businessman Alberto Bailleres, left the Greek island on Sunday. Mr Bailleres and his family had left two days before Ms McNamara was found on the yacht, with only crew members on board at the time of her death.

Kefalonia locals said there had been many rumours about what happened to Ms McNamara. But she was on board a luxury ship — and those associated with such vessels guarded the information closely, they said.

“You won’t find too many people will not want to talk about this,” one local bar manager said. “It’s not that they don’t care it’s … people like this, that sort of boat, it’s difficult to get the right information.”

Heartless trolls attack Australian model found dead on luxury yacht in Greece
Friends and family of Sinead McNamara have hit back at the disgraceful social media attacks aimed at the late model.

Grieving friends of the Australian Instagram model who was found dead on a luxury yacht in Greece have lashed out at trolls who have been attacking the 20-year-old on social media.

Her photos have been flooded with comments suggesting she worked in the sex industry and “got what she deserved”.

She was on her last shift and was planning to meet up with her mother and sister, who had been on their way to Greece at the time.

The young model had been looking forward to their visit, posting an upbeat message on social media just days before her death.

But in a chilling development, it has been reported that Ms McNamara made a distressing phone call to her family, just moments before she was fatally injured on a superyacht, to report an “incident” with another crew member.

10 months on, Aussie Instagram models death in Kefalonia still remains a mystery

New toxicology tests reveal Australian Instagram model Sinead McNamara, who mysteriously died in Kefalonia in August last year, was clear of consuming alcohol or drugs when she passed away.

The 20-year-old died in Kefalonia onboard the luxury yacht she had been working on for months. The model was, in fact, finishing her final day on the luxury US$140m Mayan Queen IV when she reportedly died while being flown to hospital.

The McNamara family said they still strongly believe there are “strange” elements to the events on the yacht before her death and what happened during those 48 hours before she died.

Missing footage, a mysterious argument and a silent billionaire: Fresh twist in death of Australian model, 20 who died 'tangled in a rope' on a superyacht in Greece

A coroner was never provided with crucial footage that was reportedly taken moments before a young Australian Instagram model was found hanging from the back of a billionaire's superyacht in Greece.

Sinead McNamara, 20, was ruled to have committed suicide after her body was found on the Mayan Queen IV, in the Greek Islands, in August 2018.

The ruling came despite coroner Ilias Bogiokas admitting questions still remained about the case.

The Daily Telegraph reported Ms McNamara had complained of a fight with someone on the yacht the day before her death, authorities had not inspected the vessel before it left port and the coroner never received footage showing Ms McNamara moments before her death.

Without the footage and an inspection of the yacht, the coroner ruled Ms McNamara had died by hanging.
