Families could get supermarket discounts if they hit NHS exercise targets
Families could get discounts on their supermarket shopping if they hit weekly exercise “step targets” under radical NHS proposals.
Free bikes, sprinting tracks on pavements and outdoor public gyms are also proposed as part of efforts to drive out couch potato lifestyles and reward those who try to shape up.
The head of the health service said the schemes, which will be piloted in new towns, aimed to create a “design for life” which would persuade young and old out of sedentary habits.

Ford announces £2,000 scrappage scheme for pre-2010 cars
Unlike schemes by BMW and Mercedes, which are only for diesels, Ford will also accept petrol cars.
Old cars, from any manufacturer, can be exchanged until the end of December.

Man killed in Zakynthos in cold-blooded shooting
A 37-year-old local man on the Ionian island of Zakynthos was killed on Tuesday after being shot in cold-blood by an unidentified fellow countryman.
The shooter turned himself in to a local police station shortly after the incident, which is believed to have been sparked by a quarrel between the two men.

Dominic Chappell to be prosecuted over BHS collapse
Chappell's Retail Acquisitions (RAL) bought BHS for just £1 in 2015 from billionaire retailer Sir Philip Green.
The collapse of BHS led to the loss of 11,000 jobs and a pension deficit of £571m.
Frank Field, who chairs the Parliamentary Work and Pensions Committee, said: "If the Pensions Regulator is frightened of landing the whale, I suppose going after the sprat is the next best thing.
"Why was Sir Philip Green allowed to get away with an inadequate settlement, in which pensions have been cut, yet Dominic Chappell is going to be sued?"

One onlooker told the Mirror: "The restaurant unofficially charges €15 -20 a plate for smashing, which is a Greek tradition at the end of a meal.
"People usually get four or five to smash at the end of the night, but they had two full trays delivered to their table - it looked like about 200 plates."
