Forty new coronavirus cases confirmed on Kefalonia yesterday by EODY, one on Ithaka
Today's bank rate:
1 GBP = € 1.1729
1 USD = € 0.8766
Based on Alpha Bank exchange rates, these are widely used by exchange agencies in Greece.
Other banks likely to offer a different rate which may be marginally higher or lower.
Banks and foreign exchange offices normally charge standard 2% commission.
You may get a better rate changing your holiday money in advance at e.g the Post Office (https://www.postoffice.co.uk/travel-money).
NB: some f-ex agencies advertise "No Commission".
Invariably, they deduct commission before they (don't) advertise the rate.
Foreign exchange offices are businesses, not charities.
Ten day weather forecast for Kefalonia:
This is an overall forecast, due to the mountainous terrain the weather can be very localised.

Weight-loss jab which curbs appetite now available at Boots and Lloyds Pharmacy
A weight-loss injection which suppresses people's appetite is now available at Boots.
The injection has been rolled out in the high street pharmacy giant and chemist chain, which has its head office based in Nottingham.
Saxenda works by mimicking a hormone called GLP1, that is released after eating a filling meal. The jab suppresses your appetite by posing as a hormone.
The jabs are now at Boots and Lloyds Pharmacy, and you will have to apply for an online consultation.

Why when Covid was raging did Boris Johnson care so much about giving Lebedev a peerage?
You like me probably remember the third week of March 2020 as though it were yesterday.
Covid-19 was on these shores in scale. Hospitals were filling up with acutely sick people.
On 16 March 2020 we'd been told by the prime minister to isolate at home for 14 days if we had covid symptoms, to work from home where possible and to avoid unnecessary contact with anyone. On 23 March Boris Johnson would announce full lockdown.
It felt like the worst crisis since the second world war. It was the worst crisis since the second world war.
So perhaps the most interesting revelation in today's Sunday Times story about the peerage given to Evgeny Lebedev (https://www.thetimes.co.uk/article/boris-johnsons-russian-crony-evgeny-lebedev-got-peerage-after-spies-dropped-warning-3dp6sw29x), the Russian proprietor of the London Evening Standard, is how much time the prime minister spent in the middle of this disaster trying to reverse a recommendation by the security services that it would be inappropriate to make Lebedev a lord.

Queen to ‘leave’ Buckingham Palace and make Windsor her permanent home
It has been reported that the Queen will never live in London again, after making Windsor Castle her permanent residence for the past two years.
Her Majesty and Prince Philip moved to the Berkshire residence at the beginning of the pandemic, before Philip’s death in April last year.
The Queen has spent the past two Christmases at Windsor, because of Covid regulations, and now the monarch is said to have “no plans” to return to Buckingham Palace.

Free range eggs could disappear within weeks, the UK's Chief Vet explains why
Free-range eggs could soon start disappearing from our supermarket shelves because of restrictions imposed last November to stop the spread of bird flu, something which some farmers say could ruin their livelihoods.
Bird flu restrictions were first introduced last November and were further strengthened on 29 November when a housing order was brought in. Since then farmers have had to keep their birds indoors.
If the housing order remains in place past 21 March it will mean birds have been kept inside for more than 16 weeks, preventing their eggs from being sold as free-range.

mmm...
So the poor farmers have been happy selling eggs as Free Range when they clearly weren't for the past 15 weeks

What does ‘free-range’ actually mean? It’s complicated
...free-range milk, taken from cows that have been grazed outside for a guaranteed minimum of 180 days a year. So what does free range actually mean?
https://www.theguardian.com/lifeandstyle/shortcuts/2017/feb/28/what-does-free-range-actually-mean-its-complicated
Hm, so there's 365 days in most years, cows only have to have grazed in a field for 180 days, i.e. less than half a year, to be labelled as free range. The other 185 days they can be kept in a barn. Keeps 'em out of the crap weather but it's hardly free range.
