‘Full to the brim’: Greece rejects Merkel call to take back migrants

The Greek government said yesterday that it could not accept a German decision to start sending back asylum seekers who had passed through its borders because it was overwhelmed by the tens of thousands already on its territory.

The statement, from a senior migration official, suggests that there will be tension between Athens and Berlin before German elections next month.

EE's UK broadband customers have been affected by a fault that has prevented them from using the internet.

Down Detector indicates the nationwide problem began at about midnight.

EE's own site acknowledges the fault but gives little detail. Several customers have suggested the fault was due to a glitch with the company's domain name system computer servers.

They reported that manually changing their computers' DNS settings had rectified the issue.

Tourists keep Greece afloat

Greece raked in €2 billion in tourism revenue in June.

Data from the Bank of Greece shows that earnings were 14.2 per cent higher than the same month last year, when revenues came to €1.79 billion.

Low-fat diets could raise the risk of early death by almost one quarter, a major study has found.

The Lancet study of 135,000 adults found those who cut back on fats had far shorter lives than those enjoying plenty of butter, cheese and meats.

To be honest, the story didn't read as innocently as the headline, especially 'I had to get an Australian passport last year, as I was refused a British application'

Anyway, Home Office have performed a reverse ferret, and offered an apology for 'a mistake'
