Unconfirmed news: Lidl store on Kef is set to double in size. If true it's a move not welcomed by small, independent traders in .e.g. Argostoli.

Greek police arrests man wanted for aircraft hijacking

Greek police have arrested a 65-year-old man suspected of an aircraft hijacking and kidnapping, crimes committed in 1985 and 1987, they said on Saturday.

Greek media said the man was thought to be involved in the 1985 hijacking of a Trans World Airlines (TWA) flight in which an American passenger was killed.

A Greek police official said the Lebanese suspect had disembarked from a cruise ship on the island of Mykonos on Sept. 19.

The source said that his name came up as being wanted by German authorities.

I was over on Kef earlier this week and the Lidl store was shut for the days I was there. Maybe it was shut for this reason. Who knows?

The site is closed but the store has relocated to the other side of the road above KAYKAS (Kafkas) the electrical store for 6  months while the extension takes place.

Likely to take 6 months for refurbishment, but thankfully they had the sense to do it during the winter! It is now above KAYKAS with a ramp to the car park, which only has space for about 30 cars. Greek drivers can't quite work out which is 'in' and which is 'out'.
