Thieves smash classic Mustang into store to steal PlayStation

Thieves in Athens, Greece, have done something less than intelligible. According to reports... several miscreants used a restored 1967 Ford Mustang as a battering ram to gain entry to an electronics store. Once in, they reportedly stole PlayStation video game consoles and potentially other items.

Whether the thieves purposely took the Mustang for a joy ride or simply grabbed any vehicle that was easy to steal is unknown, but it seems the car's main purpose was acting as a break-in tool. Unfortunately, they crashed a valuable classic car that had just been restored.

The owner, Vasilis Hatzievthimi, had reportedly spent roughly 45,000 Euros fixing the car to pristine condition. Now, nearly every part of the exterior and some of the interior has been damaged.

Thomas Cook told extra funds needed to seal rescue

Travel firm Thomas Cook has been hit with a last-minute demand to find £200m in extra funding in order to secure its future.

The troubled operator hoped to seal a rescue led by China's Fosun this week.

But Thomas Cook's banks are insisting the cash-strapped travel firm must come up with the new contingency funds, in case it needs extra finance to draw on during the winter months.

Without the rescue, the firm is likely to collapse.

That would leave 150,000 British holidaymakers stranded, and require the Civil Aviation Authority to repatriate them at an estimated cost of £600m, an industry insider said.

Oscars: Greece Selects 'When Tomatoes Met Wagner' for International Feature Film Category

Greece has submitted Marianna Economou's fabulous tale of a dying Greek village rescued from oblivion by an eccentric business idea, When Tomatoes Met Wagner, for best international feature category in the 92nd Academy Awards.

The story of the remote village of Elias, where economic crisis and the loss of its young people seems to spell the end of an ancient way of life, When Tomatoes Met Wagner has been billed as a marvelous tonic for contemporary global despair.

When farmer Christos decides to do something about a village with only 33 inhabitants, no shops, no school or even a priest, his idea turns the place around. Turning his land over to the cultivation of organic tomatoes — and blasting them with Wagner through loudspeakers — may sound like an odd way out for a village of mostly elderly peasant farmers. But soon the organic tomatoes, pasteurized and processed locally, are finding their way into health food shops the world over and turning around the fortunes of the village.
