I have frequented this pub several times on visits to St Albans. It is possibly Britain's oldest pub, but certainly has a lot of character. The landlord is of Greek descent and allowed me to sample a range of the real ales, before I made up my mind!
As for the name, I cannot see how changing the name of a pub is going to make any difference to anyone's attitude toward animals. Havn't these people something better to campaign for?
