Well, Skala main street got a testing this afternoon! A few thunderclaps... was followed by a cloudy sky and a shower in Skala around 09:30, then it turned bright and sunny - until around 14:45 when the heavens opened for about half an hour...

Just out of Skala, around Pelagos Bay Hotel, hardly any sign of rain and dry roads before Porto Skala, all the way to Poros.

Pretty much the same today around mid-day: thunder and a shower mid morning followed by half an hour or so heavy rain in Skala around 12:00, roads dry further out.

Heard the road to Myrtos will be blocked at Divarata upto (and including?) Sunday, 14 June to enable essential works. Applies to vehicles and pedestrians.

Tourism rise in Athens sees new hotels mushrooming

The recovery of Athens tourism is leading to the establishment of new hotels in the capital through the reopening of old units along with completely fresh arrivals.

Maybe it's just the way I see it but looks to me like the message here is: arrivals are looking uncertain so lets jack the prices up and build new hotels.

May not be a bad thing that new hotels are "mushrooming". I (briefly) stayed in an old hotel in Athens that was a bit of a fungus factory.

Kouroumplis rules out sale of medication in supermarkets

The Minister of Health Panagiotis Kouroumplis insisted that “there is no discussion of anything requiring a prescription being sold in the super markets”, following a meeting with pharmacy representatives in Thessaloniki.

On the other hand, the president of the Pharmaceutical Association of Thessaloniki, Kyriakos Theodosiadis stressed that he has heard similar declarations from Mr. Kouroumplis’ predecessors and hinted towards an escalation of protest actions. Mr. Theodosiadis maintained that he would not allow one third of his sector’s turnover to end up in the supermarket chains and argued that the deregulation will have an impact on public health.
