Greece’s Cyber Crime Unit is warning Internet users of the reappearance of a virus targeting users on social media network Facebook.

According to the police department, users are advised to be on the alert with regard to a post containing a porn video which appears to have been shared by a "friend." If opened, the post reportedly asks the user to download a revamped version of Adobe Flash Player (InstallFlashPlayer.exe).

Members of the public were advised to contact the Cyber Crime Unit in similar cases by calling on 11188 and via email: ccu@cybercrimeunit.gov.gr.

The gut renovation of a one-bedroom, attic-level apartment on the island of Kefallonia was driven by two primary concerns: on the one hand, the creative reuse of locally available materials; on the other hand, the playful and sensuous nature of the interior, for use as a summer home.

Looks a bit weird to me.  Even if you like it it certainly isn't a relaxing space.

Looks like an expensive place to sleep but I probably wouldn't want to spend much time in it other than sleeping. JMO.

Instagram opportunities come courtesy of Sami Bay, Myrtos Beach and the Melisani Caves (where Captain Corellis Mandolin was filmed).

Skala itself isn't the most buzzing place. Instead, we focused our day around lunch and used the car to tootle around the island. Take a trip to the capital Agistopoli for lunch at Kelafantis family, which is situated right on the water.

A trip to Argios George castle is well worth it.

...today we were told to stop offering exchange for Swiss francs, Australian dollars and Swedish krona. No reason given, other than the instruction came from the bank. Still doing exchange for GBP and USD.

 :hmm:

Sounds like the usual part-information was passed on rather than it being anything sinister to do with a Grexit: seems it's low value AUD, CHF and SEK notes that can't be exchanged, e.g. 10 SEK comes out at around 1.05€

There's A Link Between Cat Ownership And Schizophrenia

Growing up with a family cat is a significant if improbable commonality among people who develop schizophrenia.

"Cat ownership in childhood has now been reported in three studies to be significantly more common in families in which the child is later diagnosed with schizophrenia or another serious mental illness," wrote the researchers behind a new study published in the journal Schizophrenia Research.

Of course, this research merely shows a link rather than a causal relationship. But researchers theorize that the parasite Toxoplasma gondii (T. gondii), which is found in cats and can be passed on to humans, could play some role in the development of the mental illness. Schizophrenia affects 2.5 million Americans, according to the Treatment Advocacy Center.

Further study is needed to ascertain how big the link between cats and schizophrenia actually is, and the study's authors encouraged researchers in other countries to conduct their own surveys. It's also important to note that the overall instance of schizophrenia is low.

Owning a cat comes with plenty of benefits. According to a 2008 study from researchers at the University of Minnesota's Stroke Institute, cat owners are 30 percent less likely to die of a heart attack. Plus, spending time with pets eases feelings of loneliness, according to the CDC.

Agistopoli is our favourite place on the island.  Very peaceful with no tourists and in fact no inhabitants either.  It can be difficult getting a drink but parking is never a problem.  Last time we were there the only other person we saw was a Daily Mail travel writer looking rather befuddled.   That was probably because she had just come from Agrios George castle - and we can possibly forgive her the little slip with the Greek.  So, see you all there particularly at the Elefantas taverna.

 ;)

Seems very doubtful to me.  About 45-50% of the population get a toxoplasmosis infection nearly always with only mild flu-like symptoms, though it can rarely be much worse as Kath experienced some years back.  Schizophrenia affects 8-10% of the population with a peak age of onset about 18-25.  None of which really fits with the supposed correlation.

I do like the connection between cats and strokes - that's as in non-connection.

I was wondering if one of the locals had 'slipped her one'.

And if Argios George castle was actually open she got lucky twice!
