Jet2 to launch seven new routes to Greece in expanded programmeThe airline will operate services from Liverpool to Corfu, Heraklion, Kos, Rhodes and Zante this summer, meaning it will fly to a total number of 14 Greek airports. It will also soon offer flights from Birmingham to Mytilene and from Newcastle to Chania. Jet2 has also increased the number of arriving seats by 12% to 1.52 million for the whole year, adding capacity to Corfu, Lesvos, Santorini, Rhodes and Crete in March and April.Rhodes and Crete will also see their programmes extended until mid-November, the airline said. Meanwhile, tour operator arm, Jet2holidays, has added 200 hotels to its portfolio, bringing the total number of accommodations available to more than 1,500.
UK perceived as more corrupt, falling to its lowest score on global indexThe UK has fallen to its lowest-ever position in Transparency International’s corruption perceptions index, which ranks countries by experts’ views of possible corruption in public services.The UK fell from 18th (out of 181 countries) in 2022 to 20th in 2023, its lowest position since the research was revamped in 2012. It means that, according to the research, Britain is seen as more corrupt than Uruguay and Hong Kong.The UK was ranked at between the eighth and 11th most transparent country in the world between 2012 and 2021. However, it fell to 18th in 2022, and then joint-20th in 2023.
Microsoft says Outlook apps can’t connect to Outlook.comMicrosoft is investigating an issue that prevents Outlook and other email clients from connecting when using an Outlook.com account."Since starting around 1/23/24 users have reported issues connecting with Outlook 2013, Outlook 2016, Outlook for Microsoft 365, Thunderbird, and mobile email apps when connecting with POP, IMAP, and Exchange connections," Microsoft says.The Outlook Team is currently working on a fix for this issue and will share more information when a solution or more details are available.Affected customers who cannot use their clients to connect to their Outlook.com accounts are advised to use Outlook.com on the web until the issue is addressed.
Greece confirms free week-long holidays for Brits caught up in Rhodes firesGreece has confirmed it will offer free seven-night holidays to British tourists forced to flee last summer’s Rhodes wildfiresThe Greek Finance Ministry is about to launch a Rhodes Pass, giving free accommodation this spring or autumn to those affected.Holidaymakers who were evacuated from hotels on Rhodes during the fires in July 2023 will be entitled to a free seven-night stay between 15 March and 15 May 2024 or between 1 October and 15 November 2024.The Greek Government has set aside €4 million to fund the initiative, according to local reports.Greek National Tourism Organisation UK Director Eleni Skarveli said she was waiting for confirmation of the practical details, including the launch of an app to facilitate the free trips.
