Brexit: Operation Yellowhammer no-deal document published

Riots on the streets, food price rises and reduced medical supplies are real risks of the UK leaving the EU without a deal, a government document has said.

Ministers have published details of their Yellowhammer contingency plan, after MPs voted to force its release.

It outlines a series of "reasonable worst case assumptions" for the impact of a no-deal Brexit on 31 October.

Ancient Settlement Uncovered on Greece’s Evia Island

The Greek Ministry of Culture announced on Tuesday that archaeologists have recently uncovered an ancient settlement on southern Evia, believed to date from the 6th century BC.

The remains of the ancient settlement, discovered near the town of Karystos, are located in a naturally fortified position as they occupy a section of a rocky hilltop.

Only 26% of properties in Greece registered with nat'l cadastre

The recording of property assets in Greece, as part of the nascent national land registry program, continues to hover at extremely low rates, as only 26 percent of real estate has been registered by owners.

Greece remains one of the few advanced countries in the world without a unified, functional and digitalized land registry, despite generous EU funding dating back to the mid 1990s, although efforts over the past decade have picked up to finally establish a national cadastre.

Two scrub fires at Thinia, north of Argostoli, started around 13:30 and tackled by twelve firefighters with five trucks, supported by two PZLs and an Erikson 'copter. Looks as though the fires were set deliberately.

Further west, over at Lagadakia, eight firefighters with four trucks ate tackling three fires, all suspicious.
