Seismologists warn of an “even 7R earthquake in Greece”

Greek seismologists warn of a big earthquake that might strike Greece

Thanassis Ganas... said that seismologists’ forecast are based on statistics “on how long earthquakes have not occurred in several areas”. He added that “nobody can tell for sure when earthquakes will happen. We have no indication of an impending earthquake in Greece.” He stressed that the three powerful earthquakes in Italy within two months were not predicted by any scientist.

Not really saying anything we don't all know, although they are calling for more awareness and training of civilians in the event of a 'quake.

On this day: Henry VIII makes himself head of the Church – and England will never be the same again

King Henry VIII did many things. He was the father of the Royal Navy. His troops defeated a Stewart invasion at Flodden, where King James IV fell. He danced, jousted, and ate a lot. And, most famously, he terminated two of his marriages by beheading (Anne was aged between 27 and 35 at the time; Catherine was probably 18).

Today, though, is the anniversary of his most important contribution to our unwritten constitution. On November 3, 1534, Parliament passed the first Act of Supremacy – firing the starting gun on what we now call the English Reformation.

Henry's immediate objective was to father a legitimate son, as he doubted a daughter could hang on to the throne. By act of Parliament, he therefore fired the Pope as the Archbishop of Canterbury’s boss, and gave the job to himself and his successors. The plan worked.
