Bear attack near Arta leaves 67-year-old man injured

A 67-year-old man was injured after he was attacked by a bear near the town of Arta in northern Greece on Monday. According to state broadcaster ERT, the man was walking on a hiking path near the river when he was attacked by the bear.

The man jumped into a ditch to avoid the animal and was able to call for help from nearby rescuers. The man is currently being treated at the Arta Hospital.

This past weekend at the FCI Federation Cynologique Internationale World Dog Show 2023 in Geneva was a momentous occasion for Crete and Greece. The legendary Kritikos Lagonikos (Cretan Hound) took the stage at the world’s biggest dog show for the first time as part of a quest for world recognition.
