Today’s bank rates:
1 €UR = $ 0.8820 GBP   £1 GBP = 1.1337 €UR
1 €UR = $ 1.1277 USD   $1 USD = 0.8975 €UR
1 €UR = $ 1.7086 AUD   $1 AUD = 0.5852 €UR

Based on National Bank of Greece exchange rates.
Other banks likely to offer rates which may be marginally higher or lower.
Banks and foreign exchange offices normally charge standard 2% commission.
You may get a better rate changing your holiday money in advance at e.g. the
Post Office.
NB: some f-ex agencies advertise "No Commission".
Invariably, they deduct commission before they (don't) advertise the rate.
Foreign exchange offices are businesses, not charities.

Alton Towers worker plunged to death from Corfu balcony hours after engagement

The family of a holidaymaker who plunged to his death from a Corfu hotel balcony have led tributes to their loved-one. Stephen Willits suffered traumatic injuries when he fell to his death from the third-floor balcony.

The 45-year-old - who was 'heavily intoxicated' - had got engaged to his girlfriend just hours earlier and had been sharing the happy news with hotel guests as well as friends and family back in the UK.

Giant redwoods: World’s largest trees 'thriving in UK'

Giant redwoods - the world's largest trees - are flourishing in the UK and now even outnumber those found in their native range in California.

The giants were first brought to the UK about 160 years ago, and a new study suggests they are growing at a similar rate to their US counterparts.

An estimated 500,000 trees are in the UK compared to 80,000 in California.

However they aren't yet as tall. In California they can reach 90m-high, but in the UK the tallest is 54.87m.

But that's because the introduced trees are still very young. Giant redwoods can live for more than 2,000 years, so there's still plenty of time for the UK's trees to catch up.

Ministers to quash convictions of hundreds of post office operators

Ministers will publish legislation to quash the convictions of hundreds of post office operators who were prosecuted during the Horizon scandal, marking a significant victory for victims after decades of campaigning.

The legislation on Wednesday will automatically overturn convictions of theft, fraud and false accounting that were handed down in connection with Post Office business during that period. It will cover prosecutions brought by the Post Office and the Crown Prosecution Service in England and Wales between 1996 and 2018.
