Terrific winds overnight and all day but no rain. Looking very bad for people in Cumbria and the very North of England as the rivers are terrifyingly high. Went to Matlock Christmas Market yesterday and the River Derwent added to by the River Wye was a raging torrent quite frightening. Glad I decided to refrain from putting out my washing this morning ,Didn't fancy my unmentionables  wrapped round the Crooked Spire Maik. Keep safe everyone!!!

Sight of your undies flying from top o'spire might have raised a few eyebrows, Colleywobble! Sounds like you've been fortunate so far. Full report and pics of Storm Desmond on the Telegraph

Similar temperatures in Hampshire. Never known it as warm as this in December! All that is missing is the sunshine!

Warm enough here in Kent. My daffodils have buds on them and will probably flower by Christmas if temperatures stay as they are.

Same here with the daffs(also in Kent), lavender is flowering again and lilac hedge is budding up!!  Very confusing and to be honest I'd rather it was frosty rather than warm and as yesterday persisting it down.

UK flood warnings: Homes evacuated amid heavy rain

Lancashire and Yorkshire are bearing the brunt of flooding, with 15 severe warnings in place and homes evacuated, as heavy rain lashes parts of the UK.

The Met Office also issued two severe weather warnings, meaning danger to life, for rain in the two counties.

Several rivers have burst their banks, and homes in Ribchester and Whalley, Lancashire, have been evacuated.

Meanwhile, more than 300 flood alerts and warnings are in place across England, Scotland and Wales.

Almost a month's rainfall is likely to fall in one day in some places.

The Environment Agency said affected residents should "take action now".
