Greece to further ease restrictions on individual bank withdrawalsNew regulations, effective on Sept. 1, will allow individuals to withdraw lump sums of up to 1,800 euros per calendar month, compared to a maximum 840 euro limit every two weeks which existed previously.
According to the decision, signed by relevant FinMin Euclid Tsakalotos, up to 1,800 euros in previously held deposits - new deposits are excluded from capital controls - can be withdrawn as cash every month. The cash can also be withdrawn with one transaction. The current limit, 840 euros every 14 days translates into 1,680 euros every 28 days.
I was being a tad pedantic....
The government is gearing up to launch new measures that are billed as easing the capital controls but which will in fact reduce the annual amount of cash bank clients can withdraw.
