Reminds me of Yorgo's Kafenion in Ratzakli! It was known as Reggo's
He was a fantastic old boy, definitely a character, lots of stories about the War in this area
He carried quite a varied stock of goods & could always find what you needed although not too sure if his tinned goods were in date!
He had a 'bed' on a shelf & you'd quite often find him fast asleep. He had an old dog called Cannibal.....cos it ate meat! also a hand reared lamb called Souvlaki had a little bed in a cardboard box. There was also a House Martin Nest INSIDE the shop, so he used to leave the window open for them to fly in
He wasn't very tall, so everything out of his reach was covered in cobwebs.
All the 'old boys' used to congregate up there & every so often you'd see them all sitting outside having their hair cut by an old guy with glasses like 'milk bottle bottoms'.
End of an era when Yorgo died & the shop has been closed & not touched since
