Remains of a car driver who disappeared in 2006 are thought to have been discovered this morning on the sea bed  at Corfu port. A skull and bones from the left leg indicate the remains are those of islander Konstantinos Fragoulis. A family member has attended the port but confirmation of identity will require forensic examination.

Still on Corfu, the body of 82 y-o Damianos Kostas Mouzakitis from Avliotes, missing since 23/11/23,was discovered this morning. First reports suggest he was attempting to ford a winter stream with wild vegetation when he fell in.

Questions being raised as to whether the bridge at Heimoniko, brought down by landslides in the Ianos storm of 2020, will be ready for use this summer. From photos I've seen I'd think not. But I'm not a civil engineer so who knows  :dunno:

Nearly everybody knows of Stonehenge, the Tower of London and the Natural History Museum. Each year, Visit England's annual statistics reveal the millions who flock to explore the nation's best-known attractions. But what of the 20 or so at the other end of the list who see fewer than 300 visitors a year?

Sports presenter arrested on suspicion of raping a child

An established sports broadcaster has been arrested on suspicion of raping a child after a 4am raid on his home.

The TV presenter was questioned for around 18 hours after a search on his property in southern England.

It is alleged a child aged under 10 was raped on more than one occasion over a period of time.

After a search of the man’s home, computer devices and documents were taken away for examination while he remains on bail pending further inquiries.

The Sun had been first to reveal details of his arrest. His arrest and identity has been corroborated by Telegraph Sport, but he cannot be named for legal reasons. The alleged offences are historical.

Some of the residents of Skala are concerned about abandoned houses around the village. Several of the old post-earthquake breeze block bungalows are continuing to deteriorate whilst nature is reclaiming what it can. Complaints about mice and cockroaches may be exaggerated but the overgrown vegetation is definitely a fire risk. The buildings themselves are probably liabilities but the land must hold some value. Tracing the owners could be difficult, possibly moved to USA or Australia some years ago.

Four new Isuzu fire fighting trucks in a nice shade of blue were delivered to Kef fire department this morning, one for each municipality.

I'd guess all fire trucks, new and old, that are assigned to Municipality of Argostoli, will be based in Argostoli. Despite the time it takes to get from Argostoli to Poros / Skala.

Antetokounmpo 5th Highest Paid Athlete in World

The basketball player rakes in 111 million dollars per year, between his salary at the Bucks and endorsements from big brands like Amazon, Nike and Pepsi

Antetokounmpo’s assent to the top 5 is even more impressive considering his rags-to-riches story, which originates on the streets of Greece where Antetokounmpo was an irregular migrant selling CDs with his Nigerian family.

Just goes to show what a thoroughly and annoyingly mixed-up world we live in nowadays, where nurses, police officers and others who really help people struggle to get by, whereas somebody who throws a ball through a hoop gets more for a morning's "work" than the aforementioned receive in a year.
